major problem removing y intake sc300
i started to do my vcg's today and have the tb removed and all the y intake bolts except for the 2 underneath that hold the metal vaccum lines, what a stupid design btw, anyway i tried to take them off with a 10mm box end wrench but one of them stripped and i have not touched the other one, so i removed the two bolts on the big vaccum ball, but that thing will not budge,i figured if i removed that i could at least get the intake off as to where i could remove the bottom bolts, i am stuck now and need help thanks in advance
well if you had the right tool for the right job you wouldn't of striped it... easiest way to remove those would be a deep socket with a wobble / swivel... have no fear though go to your local tool store snap on mac tool etc and ask for a reverse socket and that will save you costs for a good one around 40-60 depending on vendor but it will save your *** in case you do that again... and btw its a good design cuz it keeps it sealed an secure and also scare the people who shouldn't be touching a car in the first place from touching it
well since he's saying he tried to use a box wrench he prolly rounded it pretty bad.....also a punch or as come people call it a chisel won't exactly fit under there since the bolts are a pain to get to with one ,if its still stuck and your in oc area i'll lend a hand if needed... but get a reverse set anyways and don't buy the cheapy ones either cuz they just suck....
well looks like i will have have to buy a reverse set can somebody explain how they actually work? and where is the best place to find a set cause i called pepboys and they said they had no idea what i was talking about btw im in culver city

here ya go btw pep boys won't have it gotta go to a actual tool shop hers a link for a visual on what it is http://hand-tools.hardwarestore.com/...et-104723.aspx it is used to extract bolts by cutting into it....its really hard to explain without showing so theres a image... so so you get an idea oh and i'm in irvine lots of mechanics call it a reverse so maybe thats why they don't know what I was talking about I bought mine at snap on was a bit expensive but they came through to save my *** so many times it paid themselves off
Hey man I'm at work right now, so I cant post in detail but I did the exact samething. When I get out I can post exactly how to fix what you need with part numbers prices, etc........
That is if you have not figured it out yet

hmm how to fix stripped nuts replace them.......with new ones... prices 1.50 tops..... lol all he gotta do is extract the bolt with a reverse and go to hilco fastners and replace the nuts
well i got everything off, what i did was remove the part of the intake that the y connects to so that i could wiggle it around, then i got a 10mm socket that fit perfect even though one of my bolts was rounded, im going to post some pics of underneath my valve covers, i was amazed how clean it is in their, its like brand new, wish i could say the same for my intake and tb, its absolutely filthy in their
