Can you tell what car this R154 is out of??

And do you think it would line up correctly with a 1jz bell housing to the shifter hole??

(1) It looks like it has a 1JZ bellhousing.

This is based on the fact that the input shaft protrudes from the bellhousing in the front. The M bellhousing is longer. With the M bellhousing on the R154, the transmission can be set vertically on its bell without a problem. With the JZ bellhousing, the R154 can not be set vertically on its bell without some kind of bracing since it will teeter from the protruding input shaft.

(2) It is likely a MK3 Supra (JZA70) transmission.

I say likely and not certainly because it is impossible to see the shifter housing with that lower shift boot in the way of a clear view. However, the cross-member that is under the transmission mount is not from a Soarer. The only R154 transmission to receive the internal shifter were the MK3 and the early version Soarer. It is for this reason that I suspect this NOT to be a Soarer R154, but a JDM MK3 Supra with a 1JZ motor.

Thanks, I found it Locally for sale and he said its out of a Chaser JZX90. Im looking to do a R154 swap in my MKIV Supra wich would be the same set up as on a SC. Would this tranny be in the right spot for the shifter?.

what can I do to extend the shifter location to have it work on my car?

Get a better shot of the shifter housing (the part that is being blocked in the picture by the rubber boot). It may well have a extended shifter housing that will work with our cars. If it does, than this would fit not only in a JZX90 Chaser but also our SC/Soarer.

If the shifter housing is not the extended variety, then this will not work in our cars directly. There are a number of routes to extend the shifter. If you search "R154 extension" or something similar, you will get excellent results. If this is the case, the transmission was likely pulled from a JZX81 Chaser.
