Default Hit and Run ...but..

So I was standing in front of a friends house today having a conversation when I heard a 'whack' coming from the street near my car. I saw an old pickup with a camper driving by, and I originally thought something had fallen over inside his camper cuz thats what it sounded like. Unfortunately for this guy I decided to run over to my car just in case, and sure enough there's damage!
So I peel out after him and catch him a few blocks away where he pulls over. As soon as I step outta my car he takes off again! I almost couldn't believe my eyes! I took down his license plate number and continued following him, but once he realized that I was following him he tried to lose me! He kept weaving in and out of traffic and going down side-streets. I decided to call a cop buddy of mine as I'm chasing this guy thru New West, he told me to stop chasing him cuz if he crashes he can sue me saying that he was scared that I was gonna hurt him (which I wasn't gonna do *cough cough*) or something. I decided to lay back until the guy made it home. When he came out it looked like some crack-junkie..
Anyways, I filed a police report and called the insurance company and will see what happens, but have his addy in my back pocket just in case.. Its f***ers like this that **** me off when I work hard for the what I have and they think they can get away with BS like this.

That sucks. Him suing you after fleeing the scene of an accident? I love the criminal justice system that seems to give the criminals more rights than the law-abiding citizens

Sucks man .Hope you get it fixed .I had the same experience with my civic a couple years ago .The guy hit me and kept driving ,i speed up cut him off and jumped out my car ,he got out of the lane and went about his business .he did this twice until the third time he pulled out the lane without looking in his mirror and was smacked by a truck really bad ,i took after getting my satisfaction .I had to pay to fix my car but oh well i know he had to spend alot more than me.

Not to go off topic, but I hate "not until proven guilty" shouldn't it be the other way around? Shouldn't they have to prove their innocence (sp) instead of us having to prove them guilty?
