Noel, who doesn't post here often asked me to throw these pics up as well as the story of his SC300.

While taking a drive out of no where the car start flaming from underneath near the rear of the engine. After they pulled over there was nothing else they could do but watch the flames finish off the car. They both got out safely.

He was saying the fire started from the rear of the engine. We weren't able to pull the motor to investigate and see what really happened since we had no where to store the car and the engine lift wasn't around.

The car was just FRESH out of the paint shop with a brand new paint job ready for the big northeast meet this sunday.

The interior was completely toast. We managed to salvage a few pieces of the motor, fenders, bumper, emblems, suspension and wheels.

The good news is he picked up another black SC300 just today from the man gazi! So he's ready to rock once again.

If you guys have any theories as to what may have happened feel free to post up.

 

Man sorry to hear. At least he still has faith in the SC as he picked up another one.
My guess is something with the starter?

 

damn man sorry about the loss, could fluids has been leaking on the exhaust ? just a theory. good luck with the new one.

Sorry to hear about the car - did he just happen to catch fire in front of Todd's?

 

Nah, he caught fire around york college. We towed the car back to where todd lives since the area is pretty quiet and the cops wouldn't hassle us. We didn't have anywhere else to store it since everyone's driveway was full.

 

dam man... n we still dont know what caused the fire... =/ could happen to any of us...

OMG what happened? Good to see you guys are ok. I wish I could say the same for your car. Things like this make me want to carry a fire extinguisher in the trunk. Just in case. You say it started from the rear of the motor? Maybe something around the heater core area? Hmm..

 

oh what the hibbbie.... that is pretty scary... not knowing the cause of it, i hope this doesnt happen to my car.

 

Yep, you'd never imagine something like that happening out of the blue on a STOCK car! Already ordered my fire extinguisher...

leaking fuel line? possibly by the fuel filter?

 

Is the car like 2 ft tall or is he 9'3"?

Rear of the engine would be a fuel line. Nothing else would grenade like that. Sucks, but glad he got another.
