So I am definitely buying a sc300 and doing the 1jz swap. I usually drive a stick, and enjoy doing so. I have found quite a few manual sc300s for sale, but when I call jarco (they are good people, I have many friends that use them.) they tell me that the soarer manual set up is so rare, they really don't get them in. I'm not sure how much power I want, but more than the stock manual can handle I'm sure. I'm tempted to to just go with the automatic especially since jarco sells a !complete! swap set up for 1,995, and they are just 5 hours north of jacksonville, where I'm located. I've searched and it seems like the auto is pretty strong? All help would be greatly appreciated.

 

This topic has been talked about a million times and there are millions of threads about it! So use the SEARCH button!

Also if you want more then 500HP the tranny will need rebuilding! GO with manual cause it is stronger then Auto. If you want only 450 to 500 HP MAX you can use the stock tranny with a Stage 3 or higher clutch but watch the boost on high RPM's cause you have a very high risk of blowing it up! I would just cough up the money and rebuild the tranny to handel the HP you are looking for and do it right the first time!

Also the reason why there are many auto's with the engines that are coming in from Japan is because they are not as thrashed on like the manuals and are in far better shape! Also look around other places like Jhot for full clips, trannys and engines, they have some good prices and there are sometimes some Soarer R154 trannys out floating around the internet for less then $600!

 

yeah search....but if you plan on over 450....youll need a diff tranny anyway...like the r154......trust me!!

 

my biggest question was the actual strength of the 1jz automatic itself, there are a few threads that reference tranny coolers and torque converters, but thats about it. I'm fine rollin with an auto, I just can't find a solid estimate of what hp level it becomes unreliable at? Also, since the 1jz is a higher revving engine, does the transmission become an issue at 8000 rpm or higher?

 

I would also like some more solid info on the 1jz auto trannys!

 

I have been searching all night, trying to find info on the limits of my soarer auto trans.

Its funny how all of the threads I did find had nothing more than a bunch of people telling the OP to search... no actual info of any kind.

 

I thought Jarco was out of the jdm engine import business. I picked up an RB25 for the shop earlier this year and they said they were going to focus on deomstic toyota stuff.

 

would like some info on this thread like HP limits of the 1jz with a diff torque conv or a good oil cooler
