97-00 Cheap Fog Light Solution

FOGS ARE NOW MOUNTED. SEE PAGE 4.

Ok, I said I was going to find it and here it is. This will not be for eveyone. But it is for me. These are the fogs from a 99-02 (pretty sure) Dodge Intrepid. By all appearances, they are much clearer, higher quality, and IMO ONLY, better looking.

I waited until ebay had em for 50 shipped. Right after I bought them, someone posted others that looked like they were selling for $5 EACH. On my bumper here, this one is PRESSURE mounted. I just squeezed it in. It is recessed. If you want thast flush look like stock, you would have to cut the plastic ring off that it has. Easy.

The shape is slightly different, but recessed you cannot tell. Flush you probably caould not tell.

By the way: 50 shipped inbcluded BOTH.

Here's the unmounnted fog. The harness of course is different...BUT, with a little cutting away the outside, it will actually work with our STOCK harness. A tab has to be cut with a razor.

BTW: I have NOT even cleaned these...there are just as they came from ebay.
They are VERY dirty.

ChronoJ1 08-20-07 03:07 PM

Sweet alternative.
How's the beam pattern.

I haven't even hooked them up yet...but they really look like they'll be really great. My car was hit in front and something is preventing the fogs from working. Once they do I'll post pics.

O. L. T. 08-20-07 03:29 PM

I think it is a pretty good fit for a cheap alternative.

The one thing that would bug me is the recessed fit. That's what makes the SC's front end on the 97+ look so slick is all the flush mounting.

.....but for 55 bones it works.

xcelr8 08-20-07 03:51 PM

You can mount them flush. I havent decided yet. I like the recessed look. But to mount flush, I just have to trim away a black plastic ring.

iasc300 08-20-07 03:58 PM

Interesting- they look clean- I would like to see what they look like on- I also agree with B about the fogs sitting flush- but to each his own- props on finding this solution- just make sure you update the thread when your fogs get fixed:thumbup:

BLK13X 08-20-07 04:03 PM

I like it as an alternative. IMO it'll look better if it's sitting flush to the bumper.

Luxor 08-20-07 04:18 PM

OOoooOO they look nice, I like the look of the clear lense. It must be glass right? Are these H3 bulb equipped foglights?

They're plastic. I don't know what h3 is...

JspKSoarer 08-20-07 04:41 PM

pretty good idea!

Baoser 08-20-07 05:29 PM

not bad, the bulbs dont look like h3's

look em up on sylvania =)

TheMole 08-20-07 05:46 PM

Nice find man!

xcelr8 08-20-07 05:54 PM

Thx everyone. Even new you can get them all day on ebay for around 110 for both. I really think they look better than stock. Of course, once I mount the ones I bought from Aliga will bve for sale.

fwynn 08-20-07 06:08 PM

please post pics of the output asap! :] i really wanna see what it looks like before purchasing a set ;]

sc250tt 08-20-07 06:52 PM

What if these fogs came off mercedes? Everyone would be touting their beauty.
My point is this: I think ours look cheap, and at the very least, outdated. These are off a 2000...they look so much better IMO.

Don't be jaded just becazsue we're lexus and these are Dodge. It shouldn't matter. Once on my car, NOONE will know...

O. L. T. 08-20-07 08:05 PM

Dodge has crappy products that yellow within one year of purchase. Before you defend them, you might want to research them.

One HoT 08-20-07 08:17 PM

Nice handy work on these, looks like you put a lot of effort into it..But I would definitely save up and shell out the extra $220 dollars and get the OEM foglights...It fits perfect and is always reliable...

I wouldn't put it on my car because a lot of times you get what you paid for...Unforunately, a lot of 1SC owners don't want to shell out the extra buck to do things right since the car isn't worth much anymore...

Again, these are from a 2000...I have some OEM from a 99 that bought on this board. You should see the difference. The Dodge look tremendously better.

However, I am NOT defending Dodge. American products in my experience are crap.

Just saying these look better.

I would not be surprised to find out fogs are all made in Japan. I think these look better.

Jonathan o 08-21-07 10:13 AM

Did you get them on the car? If so can you post pix?

plex 08-21-07 10:54 AM

Looks good get some shots with them on showing beam pattern etc.....

xcelr8 08-21-07 01:24 PM

Again, my car was involved in a front ender. The fogs do not work. I plan to have em working soon.

That one on the car IS mounted...it is pressure mounted. Thats how it would look. I took it out because I didnt have time to mount the other one.

I may flush mount them...that would be the only difference.

7826441 08-21-07 04:06 PM

Well IMO i think its a good alternative lets say you dont have money to buy fogs you could use these until you get the other ones, i still say with a little work and cutting and some bondo you could really make them nice and flush.

There will be no need for cutting and bondo (unless you count the outer plastic ring of the fog if I go for flush). I like the recessed look though...not sure yet. Once I decide, I will add two small bolts to the fog body (they will not show; they will be inside bumper) and bolt up.

They are H3's according to sylvania. But if your hooking em up to a pre-95 SC, i dont think it would matter correct? You have to run new wires regardless am i right?

dumdumgreg 08-23-07 11:11 AM

wow, great mod! :)

fwynn 08-24-07 10:54 AM

bump any pics of it workin at night?

Harbinger 08-25-07 03:19 PM

Nice. Think of the possibilities. Put it flush & throw a plug & play HID kit in there & you're set. I like your creativity. It's like $40 a day for the SC community(rachael ray reference). Low buck, effective mods that are slightly off the beaten path.

dumdumgreg 08-26-07 04:57 PM

please post pics of it flush when you can
it's an awesome mod

indypwr 08-28-07 10:31 PM

Fireblaze 08-28-07 10:34 PM

This thread came just in time. I would like to see the beam pattern if you get a chance to take some pictures.
