Exclamation Slotted & Drilled SC Rotor Sets (F&R) on Ebay

Guys: There are 20 sets of front and rear (combined) SC 400 slotted and drilled SC400 rotors on Ebay. Also 20 sets of SC300 likewise. These are in 4 lots. Each lot is a Dutch Auction for 5 complete sets. The way a Dutch auction works, the five highest bidders get one or more sets at the lowest of the 5 highest prices. The guy who is selling these seems to have a good rating and good feedback. Do a search on ebay for Lexus SC* The prices start at $295 for four rotors.

DISCLAIMER: This is a FYI, I have nothing to do with these rotors but thought many of you would like to know about this deal. I have no idea of their suitability, quality, etc and just post this for your general Knowledge.

FYI

They never say they are NEW. And they quote an application for LS400 in the auction itself.

Keith13B:
That IS how an EBAY dutch auction works. All the lots get sold at the nth highest bid (assuming each bid is for one).

Example:
Assuming there were five items in the lot = Qty 5
And the final bids and bidders are.....

1 @ 400.00 Me
1 @ 390.00 You
1 @ 380.00 He
1 @ 370.00 She
1 @ 350.00 Lucky

Then....

Me and You and He and She and Lucky each get one lot at $350.00

This is how Ebay dutch auctions work. I have been a part in them from the buying side many times in the past. For an official Ebay version of the Dutch Auction rules and how this all works try this url...

http://pages.ebay.com/help/basics/g-dutch-auction.html

I would email the guy to ask him if the rotors are new, however he does state in the item description "Brand New High Performance Rotors". You can tell by his many positive feedbacks that he is not scamming folks. The GS400 and SC400 rotors are essentially identical as I was told by my local Lexus dealer mechanic.

Regarding SC Lexus break fluid. When I have my rotors changed out and the new ones installed, it would be a good time to purge the brake fluid. Is the SC best served by using Lexus (Toyota) brake fluid? Does anyone know if the dealership sells this fluid in quart size containers?

When I am changing out the rotors I am also replacing the rotor lines with the stainless lines and new carbon- Kevlar pads both front and rear.

Red, When I flushed/changed my fluid, I used synthetic brake fluid. I'm not sure if Toyota/Lexus fliud is synthetic or not. I went to AutoZone and purchased some synthetic for about(I think) $7.00 a quart and a bleeder kit($4.00).

If I can remember right. The SC 4 uses DOT3. I used DOT 4 higher temp. boiling pt. I got mine from Autozone also. I got the Valvoline Synthetic around $7-8 for the big bottle. OEM fluid from dealership is not synthetic.

Are you turning the rotors for the carbon kevlar pads or not? Let us know how those pads are. Heard about them but, wondering how they are.

Hey Guys:
No, I will not be turning them (the olde rotors). I am taking off the OEM stock rotors after 72K miles (they still have alot of use left in them and do not pulse), and putting on a new set of slotted and drilled rotors and carbon kevlar pads and stainless hoses. These will look swell with the new 18" SSR GT3 wheels. I will be doing this in the springtime after the winter snow season is over. All the parts are in now. I probably with paint the calipers BLACK with rotor paint at that time too. I will drain all of the old brake fluid out and replace it with new. I am more apt to replace it with the standard Lexus fluid. Is the DOT 4 synthetic fluid actually better than the stock Lexus fluid??

YaH, Let us know as I will probably jump on a second set of these just to have around. They look nice and the price is in line with the best I have seen.
