--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i was driving the car on the freeway on my way back from work and the car was driving just fine, but when i floored it to catch some speed the car started shaking and well i dont know what the problem might be, the only thing i could think of is the timing, it was fine,i floored it, and now it shakes, and when i give it some gas while on park, it backfires, it still drives but it shakes, the engine light is off so im guessing its not a sensor.....

I would guess jumped time, or bent rod.

Check the wires, make sure they are not arcing, then check the plugs, then the Dist caps and rotors. Make sure those don't look like toast.

When you pull plugs, check the color to make sure one or more of the cylinders is not running too rich or too lean.

You might be having an injector problem, maybe fuel filter is clogged and under high demand it becomes a bottle neck.

Hey.....Welcome to the party.

WHAT??? Bent rod???? You have obviously never heard a bent rod.

First, you can't make this diagnosis from the small amoutn of info provided. Plus, the symptoms are not indivicative of your diagnosis.

Electrical would be the first route to check.

Yeah, I probably shouldnt have thrown the bent rod theory out there, but couldnt think of why else his engine would be shaking so bad, probably the Claritin D talking.
