Need advice. Just picked up a clean sc300 5spd. Stock fenders (not rolled). Want to go with work meister s1 3p, 18x9 and 18x10 with 245/40 and 265/35 tires.

What offset would you recommend? I don't want it rubbing with stock alignment settings, and I will be lowering the car about 2 inches. I don't mind the tucked look and I do NOT want to roll the fenders.

Ravspec recommended +10 front and rear...

mattjk, +10 is a pretty low offset at a 2" drop without major camber or pulling on a 245/45 up front and a 265/35 out back.

I received a new set of wheels yesterday with about the same size and specs as you posted. After speaking with a wheel expert on these forums, I'm told they will not fit unless I get coilovers, dial in a few negative degrees of camber, a bigger pull, and run a smaller stretched tire. As you can imagine, after spending a lot of money on new (not used) wheels with a tire combo, I'm really bummed.

With the pic you posted above, I would recommend a more modest offset such as +22 or even a +30. A 265/35 on a 10" with a +10 offset has no stretch and will rub like crazy in the rear. The fronts can take a lower offset but the image you posted above has a pretty sunken wheel that probably follows the lines of a +20 to a +30 offset.

Search through this thread and really read every detail to get a good understanding of tire sizes, offsets, etc. Do not make the same mistake that I made and lose out on a few thousand dollars.

How would 18x9.5 with +45mm offset fit? Sunken in a bit?
Will be using 215/40 bf goodrich tires, will that be a mild stretch?

Those would fit very similar to the stock tt supra wheels, with 5mm more poke. 215/40 would yield a large stretch imo. Mildness is relative. Googling 18x9.5 215/40 should give you some pictures of the stretch

An 18x9.5 +45 would need a 20mm spacer to start sitting flush with the fenders.

I dont know much about stretching but I read stretching bf goodrich tires is a bad idea because of the thick sidewalls, is this true?
I didnt really even want to stretch but I already had my bf tires before buying my new rims and dont want to buy again since I paid a nice amount for them and still have 95% tread left.

If you want no rub, stock alignment and no fender rolling, try +35 front and +40 rear... which is kind of a waste if you're going to buy new Meisters with those specs. +10 will need fender work for sure

...sunken up front, sunken more in the rear. As for "mild stretch" it depends on how the sidewall design is on the BF's (haven't tried those so I don't know) - there are a lot of people I've seen running 215's on a 9.5, it looks a little thin for the front, even more thin in the rear, but it's relative to what kind of look you prefer.

I don't know what Falkens you're referring to, myself as well as a lot of people I know run Falkens - and trust me, we've tried A LOT of tires since one of our guys works at a wheel/tire shop and we have a handful that track and drift... we've tried practically EVERYTHING - for stretch, for daily driven traction, for track driving, for drifting, for mountain running... Falken, Hankook, Toyo, Pirelli, General, Nitto, Nang Kang, Sumitomo, Mayrun, Hoosier, Fuzion, Achilles, Federal, Continental, Yokohama, Advan, even weird stuff like QuingDao, Apollo, Kingstar, Winning, and a bunch of other crap we have no idea where they came from LOL

For daily driven I always recommend FK-452's since from experience over the last few years none of us had tire issues... and IMO they're the best bang for the buck if you combine the amount of traction / tire life / stretch factor / price that the Fk's give. Federal's and General's are similar, with a slightly lower cost but with less overall traction.

One guy we know tried those Mayrun tires and said they were worse than Achilles and Nangkangs. That's sayin' something LOL

Thanks for the reply raine. Would you say 215/40 is sketchy on 9.5 rim?
Sorry for all the questions, just really new to this. Might even end up trading tires for a smaller stretch.

you usually stretch only when you need to, and it is a matter of personal preference if you like the look or not. Take this google pic for example 18x9.5 +12 215/40:



The question is if "you'll" like that stretch given how flush you want to make the wheels fit with spacers

Question for some of you guys running lower offset wheels. Lets say you have a +12 offset and you know the wheel design itself has a much larger hub connection from the lugs to the studs. Are any of you guys running longer wheel studs?

I installed a set of low offset wheels this weekend, and the acorn style open lugs turned about 7.5 times and a little bit more for 85lbs of torque. What do you guys consider safe? The acorn lugs are pretty short themselves and I found that maybe, 5/8" - 3/4" of an inch is actually grabbing on the OEM studs.

Keep in mind no spacers are being used, just OEM wheel studs on +12 low offset wheels. I've never heard of anyone on various forums using larger studs other than slip on or bolt on spacers.
