I am curious... I have an SC with the Supra TT shocks/springs... I am curious if I can run a 285/40/17 on the rear and be fine. I checked on all previous post and they argued about a 44 45 offset and not if the 285/40/17 tire would fit... if someone knows it would be great

I know I'm new here and everything, but it seems that this thread is full of a lot of chatter, opinions, and arguing and only a few setups with actual specs, both wheel and alignment to go along with pics (useless without pics!) to help viewers figure out what real world setups really look like.
Mods, ss there any way to separate this into two threads, one only for setups and the other for questions?

I dont think the 18x9 with 24mm and 18x10 with 22mm will work on my SC300.
We tested fitted a set of Enkei RPF1's in 18x10 with 38offset and it was pretty much flush with the rear fender. We added in a 10mm spacer and it put the wheel way outside. The 10mm would make the offset 28mm and that is not close to the 22mm with the wheels I was going to buy. I think the 2nd set of wheels will work better for ease of fitment.

Will Work VS-XX 19x11.5 +45 w/ 275/35/19 stretched tires fit in the rears w/ fender modification? I know +45 sounds like a weak offset but this is an 11.5 wheel... The fender rolling/pulling I am ok with doing, but I'm mostly concerned with the strut clearance. Anyone have any input? Thanks in advance.

Are you planning on lowering the car? A little camber goes along way. My last set of wheels was flush when the car was on lowering springs. But when I installed coils they could definitely be pushed out alot more. It really depends on what stance you're going for but you can definitely fit more aggressive wheels if you want to. I just purchased 10.5 +16 for the rear and I know it will fit just fine, and my rear fenders are only cut and slightly rolled.
Yea I have some Buddy Club Coilovers on the way. Cutting the rear fender is no issue at all. I am not into the extreme cambered in look nor the VIP still look either. Just want a solid set of 18's with a little gap between tire and fender. The SC300 will squat alot more once the powerplant has been changed so I have to accomodate for that also.

I'm more into the VIP style but even so, I think that first set will do you good. Probably just as aggressive as you'd want to go when you lower it on the BC coils. I have a feeling it will fill out your fenders quite nicely while not being overly aggressive to the point where youd have rubbing issues when you squat! Plus, you don't want weak offsets on a car with that kind of power anyways right? : ]

My '95 SC300 stock wheels are 16x7" +50, so according to the calculator in the following link, 16x6.5" +45 will retract 1mm from the fender (further sunk in) and be 11mm further in from the suspension. Yes, it will fit. If you use the stock RSX tire sizes they will be too small however. Check and make sure the hub bore isn't smaller than your car's hub, that's the only thing that could make them not fit!

Are you going to run the FR500 wheels on your SC?
I am looking at something similiar also with these sizes...basically same as yours.
The wheels are 18x9 with a 5.95" backspace (+24mm offset) and 18x10 with a 6.42" backspace (+22mm offset).
The wheels are 18x9 with a 6.2" backspace (+30mm offset) and 18x10 with a 7" backspace (+40mm offset).
Out of the two listed, which would fit better?
So can we pretty much agree they will fit with trimmed fenders front and rear being lowered with coilovers?

the first set is what the FR500's are spaced at and they did fit on another SC400. 18x9's work well and the fenders will have to be rolled with 18x10's with out a doubt.

quick question on speedo readings and overall size, if anyone knows...
is the speedo reading dependent on just the drive wheel size?
I'm almost sure it was, since it alters the gear ratio that the speedo works off of... but I just wanted to verify
