Door Won't Open From Outside? DO NOT ROLL DOWN WINDOW!

Learned my lesson last night. My drivers door would not open from the outside anymore. Figured that the yellow clip broke off which it did. Didnt think it was that big of a problem since it's a $5 easy fix.

Went to roll down my window and my window stopped 3/4 of the way down. Realized that the rod that connects to the door handle got in the way of the window.

The rod ended up bending downward 180 degrees because of the window. This morning I took off my door panel and found the rod and bent it upwards to normal position, this resulted in breaking the rod off!(almost) This is common on most metals..once you bend it so much it just breaks.

The rod(if it breaks off) is connected to an assembly that will cost you about $260 at the dealer.

This is just a heads up for you guys since this is a common problem on SCs.

Here is a picture of the rod bent downwards:

Well I went out to the dealer and bought a whole new door latch assembly, and let me tell you.... This thing was a pain in the butt to install! It was almost impossible to take out the old one and install the new one with the window track in the way! It took total of 2 hours do this job.

Here is a picture of what you need to buy if you break off the rod.
Part# 69040-24080($272.80)
The Yellow clip part number is 69293-12040($2.11)

Search under "door clip" and you'll see many other threads on this same topic. It has been discussed in depth several times already.

One week too late! Happened exactly a week ago.... rolled the window down and snap! Oh, well, live and learn... Thanks to Gazi, I've got a new one on the way... but, I don't look forward to the two hour replacement job!!!

Why did you buy it from the stealership. You could've bought it from Aliga and probably would've saved at least 200 bucks...

my clip is fine, but the bottom of that rod is broken on mine. i had it set right so i could open the door, but since ive had it back from the bodyshop, i cant get it to sit in the sweet spot agian. i just dont feel like dealing with it right now... who knows, maybe ill try again tonight.:p

I reember when Mine broke and the car wouldnt be able to open from the inside or outside, it was messed up.

Yeah those door lock actuators can be a pain. I had to replace the one on my little brother's SC. It took me about 20 mins.
