Koma...other than a salt flats car w/ 'dead' gearing, how many slow 197 mph cars do you know? BTW the 3SGTE was used in the JGTC Supra for better weight distribution, since the rules mandate hp limits, and it's no problem to make 500hp on a turbo four.

that 1uz isnt as heavey as alot of ppl think but the beams motor is decent just expect to build the bottom end if you want to turbo it internals are decently weak. as far as the 4cyl not making power comment... forget the sr20 the orginal 240sx motor ka24 has been proven to make right around 800-900 wheel completely built and pushed to the limit. there are plenty of 4cyl motors that will make this kind of power

I can't believe someones saying a 720 hp motor would be slow in a Supra because it a 4 banger. If it pulls the Heavy Supra to 190 + MPH thats evidence enough. It's got to be at least a 600 lbs TQ or more. Guess it can't be any good unless it's a "2J ".

its funny i was just thinking about a BEAMS engine today, except in an AE86. defenitly would help shave a few pounds in the weight department. will need the turbo to get the car moving. plus it should bolt right in to the enigne bay with little difficulty. i say go for it.

what kind of turbo are u planning on?

From what i've heard the GZ is a weak motor, but that is not to say it could be an absolute beast.

I have no problem with a 4 banger, but there is something very wrong with a Toyota engine that has the turbo on the right side...(too Nissan)

The reason why I question the 3S-GTE is that the Top Secret car wasn't a street car. It was made for top speed not tuned for streetable acceleration. I'm sure the Top Secret car had a lot of weight reduction along with tuning the engine to 700hp. I know the 3S-GTE is a strong engine there have been many All-Trac and MR2 high performance applications. I don't don't doubt the 3S-GTE I was just thinking how useful it would be in a heavy luxury cruiser.
To original poster, prove me wrong. I love to see new projects. And I don't wish you failure, I hope you succeed and get me to shut my mouth.

Yea torque numbers usually follow HP numbers but tuning is where it's all at. I'm not really that big of a fan of the 2JZ, yes it's an incredible engine but it's a bit played. If I had money I'd try something different like the original poster is thinking of.
Personally I'd work with the 1UZ-FE. Just because it's not an engine that many people touch. Many of the SC crowd is 2JZ or 1JZ. There are a few 1UZ tuners, I know you're one of them, I read your posts.

Sorry Koma, did'nt mean for it to read that way. The biggest problem with the 1uz is lack of off the shelf stuff and cost.
Sometimes I even question myself and other for Modding the 1uz when the 1j and 2j are so easy and can compete and smoke with just about everything out there including performance V8's like the Z06 Vette. Guess I just gotta be different or stupid.
