Sorry about a dumb question, but what do you mean by add a filter?

Dunno, haven't driven it yet. Waiting for the Lex dealership to check it out on Thurs and then I'm flying out to drive it back on Fri, at least that is the plan. I have been driving a 92 300 since 2000, so I'm looking forward to seeing the diff in torque and power in the 98 400 vvt. Does anyone know how cool the traction control is?

my 92 has traction control, and yes it can come in handy. You can drive hard in gravel and wet and not worry as much about overspinning the rears. Especially good when its wet and you need to quickly turn into traffic and not fish tail.

Congrats.

I too had just picked up a Rally Red (bleh) 98 SC400 with 67k miles.

The car drives sweet stock. Lots of pep.

On getting home change the oil with Synth, drop in some Bosch Fusion plugs (2 hours DIY) and a K&N or Fram high performance air filter (35 seconds). Also you may consider magnaflow Cat converters (p/n 94004)

Give the car love and it'll last you a very long time.

Follow up...

I flew to Jersey, bought the ride and drove it back to OH. After having driven my 92 300 since 2000 let me tell you this 98 400 feels like a completely different car, first off it drives like the new Lexus cars (drives better than 2007 es 350 I drove while my 300 was being fixed--more vibration & noise on es350), this car is ***** fast for a stock car --really the 290 hp/ 300 torque = a quick stock ride, this is the cleanest used car I have ever bought (1 owner who is a doctor who leased the car for the 1st 4 years then bought it), black interior is in mint cond, exterior has a total of only 2 very slight dings that u will only see with your nose to the body, drives like a brand new car, and Lexus floor mats still like new. Time for wheels and it's on! Gets full detail from me today--(with white gloves lol).

Overall =

Those of you who are not into preformance mods I would definitly recommend upgrading your sc to a 98+ sc 400. GL finding one though
