Default Fog lights on without headlights on

Is there a way from the factory to have your fog lights on with the parking/courtesy lights on? Is this a 95-97 feature or do the fog light only come on when the headlights are on? My fog lights on my 1998 SC300 only come on when the headlights are on.

no, all Lexus come with fog lamps turn on ability with the low beam headlamps only. Some regulation somewhere requires this, I would suspect.

well, then, "T" the parking light onto the fog lights and pray your fog lights doesn't draw too much amp. (since I don' tknow what kind of fog lights you have)

that's one way...just a cheap and quick way to do it..maybe 5 minutes.

if you want a separate switch and all the other fancy ways, there's a write up on some site...someone inform him about it...intel-something..but..I just think that's too much hassle for a light. $0.02

That write up is to convert 92-94 SC cornering lamps to foglamps that come on with the parking lights and also with the low beams. Luxor is trying to get this look:

(parking lights only)

You can't do this with the 97+, the fogs on 97+ only come on with the low beams and not with the parking lights. He wants to re-wire it so the fogs come on with the parking lamps and the low beams.

I don't know what that write up is about...never read it, just know it's out there from people talking about it on other "fog" lights threads.
what if the 97+ 's "fog" lights only come on with the low beams, all that "fog" light needs is power to light up...and the right power source can give him the right resulting product which is "fog" lights on when the parking lights are on if he wires the "fog" lights to parking lights; and "fog" lights will still be on when the low beam is on. One stone two birds

Yes this is the look that I was looking for. I thought that either my headlight switch was broken or this was a 95-97 thing. I guess it was neither. Reason I ask is because I have seen other vehicles with factory fog lights on without the headlights on from the factory. I was curious on why my SC did not do that. Guess Lexus skipped this one. I guess I am going to have to wire the fogs to an independent power source to achieve this look. Thanks all.

I went to walmart and got one of those aftermarket wiring harnesses for those cheap *** fog lights, but this one came with a remote. I cut the wires for my cornering lamps and wired everything up and there was light. Its pretty kool, my female friend likes how i turn them on from outside da car. Give it a try

Resurrection!

was wondering if the 'walmart' remote could somehow be used for HID applications. note last post was done with halogen. i'm thinking just switch up the wiring for the hid to the walmart remote and hook it up to the hid ballasts?

Yes the walmart works with HID too if you have HID fog lights. Just connect the walmart wires to your stock foglights, that it! you just push a button and it turns it on.
