Default radio reception on stub atenna

how does the radio reception compare for this stub antenna against the original telescoping antenna? for FM and AM? better / worse? i use the radio a lot as my 12 disc hates burned cd-r's....

does anyone know of any "local" generic places like best buy, radio shack etc that might sell these? I have the next few days off and would like to replace the antenna today or tomorrow as opposed to waiting for an order over the internet. any help would be appreciated.

btw jtucci looks very clean

Actually they're a buck cheaper on the site because it's $38 SHIPPED and ebay's 33+6 for shipping!

lol I doubt the extra buck will break your bank...How come no one has used something like those antenna's that come on like Hondas and some other cars where they are not sticking out anywhere?

Post what do you guys think ...

i know it's small but once again it's just the mast.... it doesn't go up anymore and the reception is great. even has an amplifier to enhance reception... just still having trouble finding a 12 volt source in the trunk

along with the quick connect for the antenna there is a seperate wire hooked up to a small antenna amplifier that needs to be connected to a constant 12 volt source, i don't have banana clips for my VOM so i was wondering if anyone could help me out for now

jtucci- i am feeling the exact same way...kinda looks like i jacked the mast from my cell phone but i do like it better than my stock antenna

don't mean to steal a thread just showing another type of antenna

you can tap a 12v source from the changer harness.
constant 12v power is blue/yellow (probably dont want to use that one) and switched 12v is grey

also, look at the harness for the mast motor. you can probably use the power wire off of there. i think it has a relay setup so a switched power supply might be available. otherwise, if you use a test light probe, you can find a live wire just when the radio is on. it is the same wire that triggers the relay that sends the antenna up and down. that way the antenna will only be getting power when it needs it.

test light and 10 minutes and youll be able to find some sort of power on that antenna motor harness...otherwise...test light and another 10 minutes with a longer wire from the other side.
