Gold emblems - refinished?

Don't know if this has ever been covered, but have any of you ever had gold finish emblems re-finished? Seems a waste to buy new when the old ones are good, save for the lack of luster.

You can get the black pearl emblems off ebay as well, with a dark gunmetal finish. Much better than gold, I picked up a set for mine, yet to be put on.
