First of all, search.
Secondly, that car is in Japan. Custom of course.
Lastly, there are couple of soft top convertible SCs in the US, which looks like crap. None a member here.

Welcome to CL.... Most of us wouldn't recommend it, as the car isn't designed to NOT have a roof.

This has been discussed over the years to an exhaustive extent. I would recommend searching for "SC300/400 Convertible"... should find some things there.

And you are correct.. there is no such think as a stock SC300/400 conv.

The pic has been around here for some time also.

Default thanks

I really am a newbie to the joys of being a lexus owner this is my second lexus, first car. the other is an RX. I seemed to have a wierd fascination with this SC400 (1995) I feel I want to soup this one up and maybe show it off at the local shows. of course I need to play with it, some repairs needed. but it calls me, makes me think outside the box. I need to research more of course, but i have been searching for two weeks for options for this car I really feel drawn to this SC almost mysterious. wish me luck as I have zero mechanic experience.

Just a personal observation, I think that the forums are way too nice.

Newbs are lucky to have 95% of these members but things have got to change if we don't want to answer the same questions for the rest of our lives (in the forum that is).

And to answer your questions

where - look in your local yellow pages for some customization shops (your question is too general, I could give you the name of a place here in California and you wouldn't come here anyways, in the future please ask more specified questions)

how much - be ready to spend more than $20,000 (and I think I'm being easy on the price too).

search search search, we all know you can do it.

you are correct chrono but not exactly.. this car was sold to a guy in England who frequented japan, and the last that I had heard he was in the process/ or already had it shipped back to England.... there is a post here on cl about it also.....

even tho the car looks very clean from the outside the new owner was complaining about a few things that were wrong with the car, stuff like the top sucked, and that over all it wasn’t that good of a DD.

One of the prized attributes of the SC is the fact that they are hardtops.

That conversion will ruin the handling, the look, and the feel of the car.
