Figure mroe people will see this here in the main SC section rather than in the vendor or suspension section, so here goes.....

Fits years 92-00 SC300 and SC400 - Finally got these in, been waiting a while.

These will tighten up the steering noticeably, as it does not allow the rack to move around with the torsional and lateral forces that are encountered with steering - especially at higher speeds and under hard cornering.

These will also eliminate any problems with any oil that drips down and destroys the rubber bushings, plus has the bushing on the passenger side as well. As you all know, the rubber will disintegrate if left in contact with oil, especially the power steering fluid or brake fluid. Huge problem on the SC300's!

Much improved steering response is an understatement!

 

Are those OEM? If not who makes them? How much $$?

I'm on my route to get a complete Daizen makeover. The bushings have already given my old lady some new legs, i'm sure these steering rack bushings will do the same.

I installed mine when I was restoring my front end. With the tie rods off it was really easy to get the bigger passenger side one installed.

To get the other two small bushings out took some effort. Even with the rack hardware and the tie rods disconnected, the rack doesnt want to move much cuz the hydraulic lines are still connected. I chose to not mess with the lines and just work around them. You just have to get a sharp screwdriver or something and keep wrestling with it and chipping away at the rubber until it can come out. Notice how the new ones are actually 2 piece so they can go in alot easier than the old ones come out. The Vlamos bushings came with some decent directions, but it was harder than I expected. Just have patience and they'll come out.

I think in need this really bad.. Its disturbing when youre driving and the wheel is 20 degrees to the left but going straight.. or vice versa.

How much? how much labor? Can it be done by me in a saturday?

 

Yeah, when they're really bad on the drivers side, the rack can shift after a hard turn, basically you go into the turn with a straight wheel, come out and it is 15 degrees to one side to go straight!

Pretty easy, just slightly awkward to reach but if yours are that bad it's a plus, as the hardest part is taking the old ones out. Yours probably aren't even hardly there!

I replaced my steering rack bushings with those urathane ebay models a month ago.. took around 15mins. Was easy as heck to do because the old ones were broken so they fell out. The replacements i had were split design so they went right in no real effort. Bolts are 110% easy accessable. Awesome performance from em. I wish daizens were out at the time tho, the rest of my front end is daizen

 

Could worn bushings cause tramlining and the steering wheel to jerk when hitting bumps? Supposedly my suspesnsion bushings are good, and the balljoints are tight.
