I am mainly looking for a urethane front air dam, but would consider a full body kit if one was available.

Also, how many US companies make kits for the SC?

Thanks in advance.

Mr.Wiggles,if you want a urethane bodykit then your choices are not that big.

Most kits are fiberglass. Fiberglass kits are ok,they do not explode or snap just because they get tapped like most people say.
Fitment is the most important.

I have plent of links for SC bodykits, but they are all from Japan, the kits in the US are ok,like veilside.

What type of kit are you looking for? Just a simple one or something sorta obnoxious?

Are you looking for a 97-00 style or the 92-96 type?

What is your budget?

DoubleWoosh,

I am looking for something fairly conservative.

The SC300 has a little bit of a rake or pitch to it. many of the wilder kits make the car look like a wedge because they put so much on the rear valence. The rear end is plenty big as it is.

I think my favorite kit is the AutoCouture one; but I am guessing that it is somewhere in the $6k or more range which in my opinion is overpriced. The kit has simple elegant look to it.

The only two US kits that I know of are the Kaminari and the Erebuni.

I like the erbuni kits front airdam a lot but I think its rear skirt is too big and I have seen a good picture of its sideskirts but they don't look to hot to me.

The Kaminari kits front end looks almost as good as the Erebuni's, the rear skirt is nice and small, but I can't see the side skirts at all on the pics at their web-site.

Maybe a little mix and match is in order. Erebuni front, AutoCouture side skirts, Kaminari rear end. That package would probably cost me about $3K with the side skirts being the most expensive things, that's a little more reasonable.

Other questions:

1. Erebuni's build quality has a bad rap. Is it justified? I don't want to have my car's own body modified heavily just to squeeze their body kit on.

2. Are there any other US manufacturers of Body kits?

3. If any of the Japaneese kits were urethane, I might consider putting up the bigger dollars for its components. Especially the front Air dam which with downtown Houston's pot holes will take the most abuse. So, are any of the kits out there urethane?

Any other suggestions are welcome.

You can get the Auto Couture kit for around $1700 or so at:

http://www.evolution.co.jp/autocouture/soarer/main.htm

(100,000 yen is about $800, so...just over $1600)

Only thing then....is the cost of shipping!

hey CmutperWhiz, what is the yen to U.S dollar ratio about 120? higher/lower?

CmputerWiz Jul 4, 2001 01:33 PM

Well it chages daily....but right now it's about ¥125 to each $1.00

ComputerWiz,

Thanks.

I guess I was wrong about the auto couture, kind of. The side skirt are $525 each curently with shipping bringing them to about $800 a piece?

However, I thought the kit had a full front nose not just a lip spoiler. They have the lip spoiler on a '98+. It would look a lot different on a '95

I do like the rear a lot:

This is the first good shot of it that I've seen.

A little mixin and matchin and I think I could come up with a pretty good combination.
