Lowering Driver's seat

Hello fellow Lex fans,
I am interested in lowering the driver's seat in my 2000 SC3. I am 6 feet tall, but I sit very straight on my daily commute and my head/hair rub the headliner. I know that the quick fix would be a haircut, but I would like to explore some alternatives.

I have heard that the Supra or S2000 seat will sit a bit lower, but with my 90,000 mile service coming up, I need to spend my loot wisely.

Do any of you know how easy or diffucult it is to lower the OEM seat?

Any help or direction that you have would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Roodiggy

i heard the s2k seats actually sit you the same as OEM seats do. i know the supra seats will lower you about 2 inches, but i dunno about the s2k. there was also a member that took off the leather, and shaved down the padding and stuff. i dunno what the end result was like, but it lowered him some. i'm sure he'll jump in here. i was considering doing this, but i want supra seats, and i'll have a harder time trying to sell the stockers if they are torn apart and not OEM spec.

I got supra seats, and they are much lower than stock... you will be very happy sitiing on it if you are 6 ft tall.
don't go cheap racing seats and regret later....
as far as lowering stock seats.. never heard of it. ;)

Thanks, guys. Do you know how much a driver's seat from a Supra goes for? I appreciate the info.

I bought 2 front seats for 550 shipped. :)

there are 2 sets on sale at supraforums right now. black set for 475, and a tan set for 325, i think.

If your seats are in good condition you should be able to reimburse yourself after purchasing some supra seats......

I was able to remove nearly an inch of foam from the seat area for a better fit.
I'm 5-11.

I second that!

I'm 6'2" also, I just have to recline the seat a little bit but I don't really find this uncomfortable at all.

Thanks a lot, guys. It is not that I don't fit in the car, it is that I do not fit comfortably. I now have plenty of options to explore. Thanks again.

Just to get this thread back to the top since I don't want to make a exact same post.

are there any other alternative solutions besides going with Supra seats?
I want at least 2inch lowered.

How much will the supra seats lower?

thanks in advance.

One common mod on the S2000s is to lower the factory seats....

It entailed completely disassembling the seats, drilling new mounting holes in the front part of the pan and hammering down the mounting studs in the rear portion. I also shaved down quite a bit of padding. All in all, for just the driver seat, it took me about 6 hours. I kinda wish it would've gone lower, but it was definitely an improvement! I'd say 1.5"-2" lowering.

Being powered, I'll bet the SC seats are more difficult, maybe much more, although I bet it can be done.
