Wondering if anyone came across this. I changed my wheels for a M. Miglia wheels that were supposed to be sensor compatible.
The sensor light doesn't go off now. The shop that did the change is researching it, but said the Lexus dealership was not too much help. He said something about having to reset the computer after the change. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks. |
I understand each sensor emitts a specific frequency, so the monitor knows which tire is low on pressure. You must index each frequency to the proper corner of the car.
When I first got my 430 the tires were improperly over inflated. After I set them properly the warning light stayed on for a couple days and about 50 miles. After that it has been working properly. Just like your case the Lexus service writer simply shrugged his shoulders, and indicated that they did not as yet have any experience or training on the run flats. Lexus computer is very flexible, and lots of parameters can be changed. Would def. run it by the shop. |
Proper inflation
Which brings me to another part of the issue. The installer said that the sensor would go off at 35 psi, and he said optimum was at 38, which is what he changed it to. What was your PSI when the tires were overinflated?

I had the same problem when I replaced a wheel. After a couple of days with the annoying noise, I took it to the dealer to "reset the computer".. They told me the sensor was not installed correctly.

Noise?
I don't have any noises, only the sensor light. Is a audible alarm supposed to sound as well?
Did the dealer charge you for the reset? |
Warning light probably caused by high tire pressure. Lexus recommends #32. Try reducing pressure to amount listed in manual. Tire pressure on side of tire is for maximun rating only, and not what you should be running.
May take a little time for light to go off, after reducing pressure to #32, but if not out in few days, back to the dealership. |
Thanks!
Ok thanks, I'll give it a try.
