Default Coilover reccomendations?

Finally after getting some rims it looks like my SC could use a drop. Forgive me since I'm new to this but I can get coilovers tol replace the stock shocks and springs right?
What are some good brands and places to pick these up? They don't have to be super high performance, since I still like having a smooth ride, just decent quality.

Also what is the recommended drop for 19" rims on a SC? I've heard some went with 2" but a friend told me thats too low and would require modification. Thanks for you help

I have teins myself and am very happy wtih them, if you do a search on the word coilover you will find lots of infomration. 2" doesnt sound like that much to me.

Ok, did a search and still have some questions:

It looks like people here went for the tein CS's, is around ~$1500 a good price for them?

Are there other brands cheaper than tein that still offer good quality?

It look like getting springs would be alot cheaper, are there any disadvantages to springs other than not being adjustable?

If I did get aftermarket springs instead of coilovers, would I have to buy aftermarket shocks as well?

Most go with Tein CS or Tein Flex.

Yes you can use just aftermarket springs I had H&R for quite a while and used the stock shocks. Some say that aftermarket springs with stock shocks will wear out the shocks faster. I personally dont buy it and didnt have that problem.

Aftermarket springs will give you the drop but not much else in terms of handling and peformance and not much more than 1 inch to 1.5 inches.

Many get good performance with aftermarket shocks and aftermarket springs, bilstien shocks comes to mind. But again you dont ahve the adjustable damping or the adjustable drop.

I dont think you will find coilovers for much less than teins.

I think that covered everything.

Tein also makes the Type Basic coilover setup. This setup has height adjustment, but no damping adjustment and sells for around $650-700. If you are considering a spring/shock comobo then just put in a few more $$ and get the Tein Basics.
