Default Fiberglass Bodykit Bending

Does anyone know the methods how to bend the bumper made by fiberglass without breaking it? Your reply is greatly appreciated.

if you want to "bend" fiberglass, you're going to break it.

what did you want to do exactly?

I had the VIS bodykit and its front bumper flares out on both fenders sides about 2" unnecessarily. I really wish to bend them in so it could embrace the front tires, but I'm afraid to break it. Otherwise, it looks like the catfish mouth.

What parts were shaved? Did your bodyshop guy shave the inner side of the fiberglass bumper or did he shave the car's bumper absorber or whatever? Will shaving the fiberglass weaken it and make it more vulnerable to breakage?

you have to do it by eye, check to see what parts are not fitting right and shave them down on the inside. I will also have to shave down my bumper support.

Make braces and tug them in. 2" at the end of a bumper is not much.

Take a steel electrical pipe and cut to size. Flatten the ends with a hammer and dril a hole. Screw to the bottom of the lip and attach the other end to the body. Obviously make the pipe the proper length to locate the bumper where you need it. Fiberglass is very flexible to a point, although it highly varies on the construction, layers, and shape.

Can you push it into place with your hand without hearing stress crackles? If so, you can make these braces and you're good. It will reinforce the kit nicely anyway so it doesn't flap and vibrate at high speed.

If not, you will need to remove it, cut it up, refiberglass the rear, bondo, and repaint.

Good luck!
