Steering column tilt control mechanism
I have a 1993 Lexus SC 400. I noticed after I got my car serviced that my steering wheel tilt contol mechanism does not work. When I push the button to tilt the wheel it seems to make a whirring sound like it is stripped and not catching. Not having any experience with this type of mechanism ..I would guess its some type of actuator or motor within the column that is stripped similar to an antenna type of actuator. Has anyone else had this problem ? and what part would I need to fix it? and how could I learn to fix it properly? perhaps a schematic would direct me to the proper sequence of replacing the part correctly and efficiently...Thanks for your help and advice ..I currently keep the steering wheel in the electronic manual mode so it doesnt automatically kick on and start that whirring noice when I insert the ignition key. rcftx
