Default removing front seats

Sorka,
Awesome job on the interior. How difficult is it to remove the front seats? Any instructions available?

Thanks.

Roy

front seats are simple... 10minute job
pop the plastic covers over the bolts.. then there are I believe 6 bolts that
need to be loosened...remove the bolts and unplug the harness..
remove your seat from the car...

Default seat cover installation

Sorka mentions that the leatherseats.com cover was not a great match and needed modifications. Can you be more specific? I'm thinking about participating on a group buy and am a little worried about the installation.

There were several issues:

1) Not really plug and play. Had to cut holes in the leather that the factory seat covers already had to fit various things through whether it be bolts or the headrest adjuster button. The seat bottoms on the factory wrap around and attach by wire lifts on the bottom, but leatherseats.com attaches with a plastic lift that fits over the edge of the steel plates on the bottom. Doable, but had to wrestle it.
Leatherseats.com was missing various wire lifts between panels. They said it didn't make a difference, but it did and the new leather didn't have that pulled down tight look until I went in and transferred the lifts from the old seat cover.

2) Fit was not very consistent.

Overall, however, after time to set and get heat treated in the sun, you really can't tell the difference. The minor wrinkles disappeard as the leather shrunk in the heat .

I also believe the quality of the leather was probably better than stock.

However, the rear bench on leatherseats.com is all vinyl except the seat bottom centers. My OEM back seats are all leather all the way around. Leatherseats.com told me that wasn't the case, so I was shocked to discover all leather when I removed the old seats.

It really don't change the look though and the vinyl will far outlast the leather. It just doesn't feel as good as leather but nobody sits in the back.

Had to update the gallary links. Apparently smugmug decided to invalidate them without telling me. Several forum members were asking why the couldn't see the photos.

So you're impressed with the leather skins kit? I was tempted to pick up the kit as my driver side seat is starting to tear.

Pictures are awesome!

that looks great... sewell is no joke on pricing. u would think u were buying things for a ferrari. atleast they have the parts though. and i know i would pay about 7k for ur car. just to answer ur question about what ppl think its worth. this is my opinion hopefully no one takes offence to it. i have bought and sold many cars so im speaking from experience.

Wow! Looks like you're right. You can still get them for the LS400, but nobody shows them available for the SC300/400. Have you tried calling around to places like Sewell?

they have been discontinued and no one has anything. Im looking for tan mats with dark brown insert on driver side and dark brown lexus letters. There were some black sets floating around ebay still in plastic about 1.5 years ago, that were left over at some dealers they wanted around 200 for them wich would be fine if they were the right color for my car.
