Default the black interior dilemma

so I find myself in quite a quandry.

I'd like a 5 speed, but I want a black interior too... what to do?

Should I find a 95+ SC and merely swap interiors out of another SC that's been totalled, minus the seats which I'd have redone from Leatherseats.com?

Or

Should I wait for a clean black on black or silver on black 5 speed to pop up?

Input, need input!

I think you should find an original Black/Black or Silver/Black, too. While I'm all for swapping, I think the interior is never quite "right" after a swap. There might be more rattles, broken clips, ripped materials, etc. Kinda like a wrecked car. . . never the same. Just my thoughts. . .

I feel if you were willing to swap everything you are probably more than willing to drive out of state to get one. Keep checking ebay and auto trader and I am certain you will find one. Is that one in Cali still available that was on the classifieds???

black interior looks nice, but i don't think it'd be worth the time doing the swap, and also i don't think your decision on a car sould just be based on an interior imo. i've sat in about a million different sc's while looking for one and i liked the tan interiors just as much as the black interiors. but if you want one that bad, i'd say that you should wait and find one

the buyers opinion on what interior he or she wants is VERY important. When I was looking for an SC, I wanted black, not tan, I hate tan. I found black and I am extremely happy. Not one doubt in my mind skipping on various colors on tan leather and waiting for the perfect black interior. but that is also MY own opinion.

Good luck trying to find a clean 95+ 5speed with black interior. It took me 2 months to find a 95 with black interior and automatic BTW: Personally I would never go with a 96+ car because of OBDII.

You guys don't have to tell me about looking for SCs. I was looking for about 5 months to find mine. I bought it in San Diego, had it shipped to Boston.

Cars in other states don't scare me, salt does.

I've owned two SCs now, and I'm sick of tan.

A SC w/ black interior is hard to find, a 5 speed is near impossible. OBD II doesn't scare me, VVTi doesn't either.

Right now it's a wait and see game. Interior is 4th on the list:

1) 5 Speed
2) No Big Accidents (no frame time, replaced fenders or 1/4 panels)
3) Black, White, RSP, Silver (no particular order)
4) Black Interior.

I would think you would put interior before color considering it easier to have the car painted then to swap the interior.

true, I guess the odds are if it's black, it's gonna be silver or black exterior.

swapping in a 6 speed would mean a Turbo project at the same time. My on campus job doesn't pay THAT well

I'm hooked on the MT in an SC now.

I would just wait... I am finishing my black interior swap on my 92 as soon as my CF wood replacement panels get here I got lucky and found a smashed up car with perfect interior for $900... so I couldn't pas it up!

It will most likely be cheaper to wait and find one that already has black because as hard as it is to find a NON smashed one for a good price, it is harder to find a smashed one.

Hey John.
I had a customer that came in a few months ago with a 95 Platinum SC3 5-Speed with the Black interior. Very clean car, only has about 70K miles on it. He said his wife was getting tired of a small car. He was giving me a hint that he wanted to sell in the near future. If he comes back, I'll try and get his number from him for you. Real clean car, one of only 4 or 5 SC3/5-speeds that gets serviced here.
The rest of the stick shift owners do not want to give up their cars.

Even though I voted that you should wait,
I'm also in the process of swapping....it will take time, but should be alright. Tomorrow, I will dye the carpet I got for free from Vredniykot.....
