what is the best tire size for 17x8" rims?
#1
...on a '92 SC300 mostly stock (for now). I gotta get rid of the 15" wheels! I came into some 17x8's for a great deal. Should receive them this week. I was thinking about trying out the g-force TA KDWS in 235/45/17 since this will be a daily driver.
Any other suggestions on tire brand and size?

Size calculator
Here is a good link for tire sizes. Especially if you want to keep the speedo accurate.

I don't recommend all season tires. One option is to make your 15" rims your winter rims. You can get a good narrow ice or snow tire pretty cheap. Then go with a summer tire on the 17" rims. A/S tires are neither good nor bad in any season but you'ld enjoy summer tires a lot more (and they work better in the rain too).
Summer tire recommendations:
Potenza RE730 ($)
SP9000 ($)
Pole Position S-02 ($$)
My 2c.

TA KDWS are awesome tires, they get real sticky when heated but are good in the rain too. You could probably go with a 245/40 size or even a 255/35 size. I know these will fit on a 8" rim. I have 255/35 on my 18's. Good luck and those are good tires.

I had 255/35 and it is actually a bit lower ratio than stock height. Off by a tad...
recommended size is 235/45/17 on all 4s. This is what I currently have in my SC400 and it handles great. I am running Toyo Proxes and they are awesome.
Also with a 8 inch width wheel your 255s will be too loose/soft for the corners as they are stretched inwards you need an 8.5 for a perfect fit. I also bent a wheel because of having 255/35 in the back with 8" width...although it looks better than 235/45.
I notice that my car accelerated a bit quicker with the 255s because of the lower ratio.
