Question climate contol not working

Ive been having a problem w my radar detector ie. cig.lighter not working just some bad connection I think but the last time I went into the centre consol I could'nt get the detector to light up at all !the 15 amp fuse at the kick pannel looks fine and now my climate control doesn't light up either!!!anyone know if and where the other fuses are for the heater? anyone got an ideas??oh yeh its a92 sc400..just checked the wiring harness to the cig lighter again,it got power to the small LED light [green wire] but the red has no power to it !!!!and that should be the hot wire to the lighter I think.

Default kick panel

thanx OLT I'm aware of the one fuse but was wondering if there was another that would cause this.I think that there is a broken wire in the harness leading to the cig. lighter! I don't have a wiring diagram for the car and think I might hve to get in there with both feet ,if you know what I'M saying....

if you'll search the fuses, one at a time, by hand and eye, you'll find it. there are only like 15 of them.

Hey man,

I deal with electrical problems everyday on mine so I feel your pain.

I too have have experienced problems quite similar to this.

There are several things u should check. Firstly, make sure that the cylinder is tight - if it is not then you will not get a good enough connection. Get a light tester and check to see if u r getting juice anywhere on the bottom of the cigarette lighter. Then disconnect the spade and see if u r getting juice at the spade.

For fuses - check the following in the kickpanel

#2, #10, #13, #14

Then under the hood -

1st 10a fuse.

If none of these are blown then u r at the same position I am in. I too have the green light working on my cigarette lighter but am not getting any power to the lighter.

I will keep you posted on what I come up with. Good luck,

Jonny

thanks Jonny
I'm yhinking it could be a broken or frayed wire that leads to the spade that is just drawing voltage when there is enough contact between the two end because I've wgled the harnes some oyher time and restored power to my detector ! but that does'nt work all the time.

Yeh,but better late than never but I've also blown a fuse a couple of times [ same fuse ] but the last time the fuse seemed fine but still couldn't get any current to the lighter.which is why I was asking about any other fuses ! and hopefully a wiring diagram for that part of the harness because unlike you Brian I haven't had that much experence with the Lexus wireing. And the last time I lost power to the heater which had me stumped being that the fuse that had blown before looked fine..
