Default kei office coilovers?

i am ordering a coilover setup and i am not sure if i should get the kei office type xr coilovers because i know that the spring rates are very high, not sure of the exact numbers but i think that they are like 17 and 19. i do not know very much about spring rates and am wondering if these are to high for a daily driver. i did a search and found that a member purcahsed these coilovers and actually replaced them because they were to stiff.

Im running 14 and 10 with my JIC FLTA2s and think its pefect. I like stiff rides, but the kei office seem to be a little bit too stiff.

I used to have those coilovers (Kei-Office) on my Soarer... careful with them... they'll BUST YOUR *** hahaha... way too stiff for my liking, and they wen bust on me a few months after (got them secondhand) and I couldn't get them rebuilt?

I'm only running a simple set up now (Espelir ASD springs) and the spring rates for these are 7.0kg/mm front and 6.0kg/mm rear, IMO they're perfect for the street (just as a comparison to Kei-Office's 17kg/mm spring rates). I hear that TEIN's are nice coilovers though.

Here's some pics for comparison... not the srping thickness difference as well.

firstly, Espelir ASD springs (stock shocks)...

... and Kei-Office coilovers... they get noisy as hell when they age as well.

That sounds like a stiff spring rate...for the track It would be nice...but daily driving will kill you being that stiff...I think JIC's would be a great track and street coilover. FLEX's for daily driving and track. Good Luck! or try Blitz coilovers off the SUPRA...

i was going to order the kei office coilovers but i would have to wait about 3 months to get them, so i'm just going to get the hks hipermax II coilovers. and the kei office ones would have probably been way too stiff for a daily driver. the spring rates are 20 and 16.

thanks for all your help.

The exact reason I got rid of them... the rears were starting to die as well.

I heard that HKS's are overhyped... It's like comparing Recaro and Bride's, both are dope seats just that the Bride's cost more. Also, do JICs cost less then HKS's?

i think that they are overhyped just because they are hks, but i guess i'll find out in like 2 weeks. I think that the JIC's are about the same price, at least they are from mvpmotorsports. But you can probably find them cheaper somewhere else.

Guess it all comes down to brand reputation/recognition. You're always going to pay more for a more reputable brand (and HKS is one of the most, if not THE most reputable company to come out of Japan, seeing that they were one of the pioneers of Japanese tuners)... that's why I'm saving up now for the HKS S-Type 'cooler! heheh

And before anyone has the chance to post this smilie directed at my post, I'm gonna do it to save you the trouble lol

i think it really does have to do with the brand recognition, because the main reason i decided to go with the hks is because of the purple pillow ball mounts, i love that color.

andi think that the hks type s intercooler in amazing my friend has one on his 240sx and it's almost the whole font end of the car it goes from the bottom of the bumper to the bottom of the headlights.

I had Kei Office GU Type coilovers in my Maxima

they were tooo stiff 10k/8k so I went with JIC 8k/6k which is perfect

on a 240 the kei office are great if you dont mind the jumping up and down, some of that can be taken away with proper preloading, but... its still a bouncy ride, on my S14 I'm running Tanabe Sustecs I think the spring rate is like 7k/5k
