Default light went out on my speedometer...help!

a bulb on right side of my dash has gone out, leaving the gas tank meter and everything after 120mph on the speedometer in the dark. does anyone know how to change the bulb?

To fix the bulb you need to remove the whole cluster and replace the bulbs from the rear of the assembly.

Sometimes it's only oxidation on the board contacts which causes the problem.

As far as needles, you need to either get some known-good used ones or else buy a new gauge from the dealer and swap the needle.

I have some of the smaller temp/fuel level ones available but no tach/speedo ones right now.

I have the same light problem on my speedometer between 5mph to 35mpg gauge. I took it to the dealer to see if they can replace and they suggested to wait till some of them goes out (8 lightbulbs all together). It is the same cost even if they only replacing one...about $160.00. HOpe this help BlackSC300.

Let me get this straight...the dealer said to wait until more bulbs go out???

Why not do it now and have them all replaced when they pull the cluster to replace the 1? Kinda like how they recommend replacing the waterpump when you do the timing belt at 90k because it is redundant labor.

DS,

How much you want for the needles?? Any other dash goodies?

I have had some success w/ local junk yards & salvage companies for used parts that I didn't want to pay dealer $$ for.

Question bulbs

okay.... lets say if the bulb goes out,
just to make things straight,
there are eight (8) bulbs total that light up the dash cluster, right???
so ....lets just say, instead of the normal white bulbs (yellow)
why not replace them with the hyper white bulbs that are the true white color????
eehh?? ive replaced almost all of my bulbs in my car with hyper white or a different tint

a few good tips.... buy two hyper whites and put them under your tag... yeah...that looks awesome really brings out the tag.......
another would be to buy a purple bulb to go in the dome light that comes on when the doors open... that will give a sutle light to bring light to your car...plus it can pass as a black light color on white T-shirts (kinda cool if you are into that kinda stuff)

But back to the topic at hand..... anyone think the hyper white bulbs will shine white like they should...or are the numbers etched in a certain color ....only allowing one color to shine through...or is it a black that is etched clear so that any color can shine through???
anyways...anyone with imput or whatever just lemme know......

oh yea...hook me up on AOL TRUDREMZ16
send me an instant message...heck yeah

Arrow ooppsss

thats my bad dude...
about the hyper whites......i meant to say above the tag....but under the bumper....
there is nothing under the tag............ jsut replace the yellow wedges with hyperwhite wedges in the lights that light up your license plate...

you can tell a huge difference.... the light that shines is jsut more bright and looks a whole lot better....i would suggest this to everyone to do...if you havnt...they two wedges are only $5-10 so ...why not...

ian...
oh by the way.... i posted two pics of my car while we were at the beach in the SC gallery....
if you wanna you can check them out...
they arent too clear...ill work on that soon ...
sorry
