I say yes, but if you are in a place that doesnt rain alot or snow like in HOT *** Fresno, CALI , but I still have mine and will continue to keep it. It was hanging at one point found it and rebolted it back on the Home depot thing I will try.

I decided to keep the damn thing, I figured that if Toyota put it on there and it's so expensive to replace it must serve a function of some kind. If all it does is keep road debris from bouncing into my engine then I must keep it. I'll get under there one of these days and secure it better. It's just that the screw holes are broken in some places and the cover itself is warped from what I'm guessing was hot fluid of some kind dripping down onto it over a period of time. Last time I secured it was before my last oil change, spent $3 in hardware only to have the idiot mechanic be lazy and only replace half the screws, so now it looks goofy. Even when it was secured properly it still wasn't straight because of the warp. I'm getting tired of having to deal with little ish like this on my car

Remove it, clean it and use a heat gun to remove the warp, also cut a square hole where the oil filter would be in relation to the cover. This will keep the idiot oil changers from having to remove the whole cover. Also drill holes to replace the damaged ones and use zip ties to secure.

The idiot oil changers are a good part of the cause; the oil creates a sag in the cover after it's allowed to soak in.
I'd keep it because anything you can do to keep high speed airflow from getting to the firewall the better.
Some pop rivets and sheetmetal would do wonders for these things after years of use.
My car had only a couple screws left in the thing after a trip to the dealer(Lexus of Seattle).

I don't think there's any other way you could've found this thread WITHOUT searching, so shout out to you, Hercules!

And for future reference there is a seller on eBay that sells Aluminum splash shields for our SC's, and to deal with the "idiot oil changers" as SCV8 put so kindly, there is a version that has a piece that unscrews so you can replace the oil filter without having to remove the entire shield.

I actually didn't know about the seller Trenshaw19. He's selling some cool things, might just pick up that radiator cooling cover if I don't come up with my own when I get a chance.

Thanks for the links guys. I've seen the plastic ones on ebay before, but I realy like the aluminium ones. Looking to replace mine as it got damaged.
