Maybe they changed their design? Or they have their own ballasts, wires, etc., but have the bulb made by someone else?

FWIW McCulloch has a reputation for people complaining about the poor quality wiring and cheap ballast units. The ballasts misfires when they ignite. The bulbs are rebased generic capsules that supposedly last less than 180 hours. The company is now known as McCulloch/Bohmen. Perhaps that is why they changed the design. Again, this is from what I've read not my own experience. If you want to read about it, PM me.

Well NOW I'm concerned I guess there's really no substitute for doing a real HID swap. Most of these plug and play kits are second rate anyway (not to say this particular one is), I guess like everything else with this car I have to just bite the bullet and go all out.

Derek, I love how your lights look and the price you got them for was great. I just don't want to have to swap it out later if something doesn't perform to my expectations. I want to see if you experience the same problems as One Hot. Hopefully it's isolated.

Derek,

you new HID's look terrific, I'm sure you saw a huge difference. This is one mod that I really want to have done to my SC400.

Questions for anyone.

If money was not a factor. If I brought my car into a Lexus dealer & spoke w/ a service advisor could they retrofit my stock headlights with the SC430 HID's? Is this possible? Or would they laugh at me?

I'm not knowledgable enough to do something like this myself. I've also read about BMW's HID that would fit the SC400 too.

If the Lexus dealer wouldn't touch the job, how could I get it done without going the plug & play option.
