Better for what??

The fact that you're asking this question says you need to STUDY and learn a bit about turbos!

I'd HIGHLY recommend you start by reading Corky Bell's book "Maximum Boost". When you're finished, you'll be able to answer all your questions

Again, you're not asking the right question. Being a certified tech, you should understand that adding a turbo to a car is a complicated process (if done right!). There are many parameters involved in sizing a turbo. There's wheel size, the A/R ratio (area to radius), trim type, and then you have to double that because those variables apply to both the turbine and compressor sides. Rather than deal with all the individual variables, you're better off learning to read compressor maps.

OK, you've got a start. You have a horsepower goal in mind. From here you need to compute how much fuel it will take to produce that much power (there's formulas for that in Corky Bell's book - hint hint ), then you compute how much air it will take to burn that much fuel, and then and ONLY then, will you be ready to look at compressor flow maps to see which turbo will flow the amount of air you need. THAT's where you see what size turbo you need

Do yourself a BIG favor and study up on turbos before embarking on your buildup. You'll save a HUGE amount of headaches down the road

"Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell. Amazon usually has them, or Barnes and Noble can order them.

Great Book!
