Default Max width for r19 AVS model 7 rims for sc 400.

I'm planning to change my r18 Avs model 7 8j,9j respectively ( love those rims) for r19. My question is, what is the max width I can choose without installation of the wide body kit? Can I still maintain the same tire profile ( now I have 235/45 what gives me 106mm)?

You can go pretty wide on an SC without a wide body if you’re willing to roll or shave the fenders. It will also depend on your offset as well. A higher offset typically allows you to run wider wheels and tires. You can put 18x9 and 18x10 on a stock body car if you keep the offsets high, like a +35 or +40.

Is the car lowered or do you plan to lower it? That makes a difference in how wide/tall the tires can be.

Thank you for the answer! No, I do not plan to lower it. Actually, I was able to put 235/60 r18 winter tires but found it way too extreme. Those rims have +40 offset which is quite close to the stock numbers ( 48-52 ) and I plan to stick to it. So that those will fit? https://www.farpost.ru/nakhodka/auto...108182180.html

SC's can take a lot of rubber width in the rear. I'm at near stock ride height (maybe 1" lower than stock) and am on Supra MKIV TT 17x8 & 17x9.5 staggered rims (+50mm offset I think?) with 245/45-17 up front and 275/40-17 in the rear. Absolutely no rubbing, poking or body widening needed.

Similar to the sibling Supra MKIV's the MOST aggressive rear tire widths some people have run on stock rear fenders with the right suspension adjustments and offset (but probably with some rolling) are 315's. But that is a very tight maximum at the extreme end. More conservative wide sizes would be 285mm, 295mm or 305mm but accounting for sidewall height and offsets at that point.

I can tell you that 275's in the rear already give plenty of traction and decent looking unless you're pushing a lot of horsepower and really need more width to maintain as much traction area as you can get after you have already fit a very good and sticky tire.

With the SC400's level of power I think any more tire than 275 at the rear would be too much. I do recommend running a staggered set of wheels and tires though.

On the other hand for these cars I think on the much more conservative end of things running a 235mm non-stretched tire up front and a 255mm non-stretched tire in the rear should be easy and ideal for a mild handling setup.

Your available tire options in a variety of compounds are certainly greater today with 18" rims than with 17" rims.

...

Further, I always recommend the Yellr YellowBox V5 speedometer reading corrector to people who are doing big changes to their overall rear tire diameters and also with final drive ratio changes with their SC's and Soarers. Yellr also makes an SC/Soarer/MKIV specific plug-and-play harness that you can order from them by special request. It will correct for speedometers that read in miles-per-hour or kilometers-per-hour.

We have an installation DIY for it here on the forums (in several posts starting here):
