Anyone's chair squeek?

My passenger side chair is squeeking, it sounds like 2 pieces of hard plastic rubbing against each other. I can't find out where the noise is coming from exactly.. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix this? It's pretty embarassing when someone sits in your car and asks what that noise is...

On mine it's on the driver's side, and seems to be worse in colder weather. In my case it came from the area between the seat leather/vinyl and plastic trim panels that surround it- try some lubricant in that area and see if that helps. There's been other threads on this as well.

I have this same problem! I don't really know what it is though, does anyone else have any suggestions on how to fix this (passenger side)?

Thanks - Richard

Same here, woo hoo I'm not the only one! :p jks... but yeah, I don't know what is causing it... I'll have a look see during the weekend to see what I can find.

I have the same problem, and I think the cause is what Perry said. Mine only makes the noise when moved all the way forward or all the way backward.

I never heard it referred to as a "chair" before.:p

Yes me 2

This problem surfaced after I got TEIN HA Coilovers and the rough ride must've loosened something.
Now it sounds like I have a little birdie in my backseat somewhere on rough roads.
VERY annoying.

I can't isolate it because I'm the driver.
I'd WD40 the whole car but don't exactly know WHERE and WHAT to shoot...u know?

To isolate, I'd need to drive with someone in the trunk, and backseat to figure out what that noise is =)

Anyone else have ideas?

My passenger side seat squeaks too...I just WD40'd the hell out of all the metal joints at the bottom f the seat and that seemed to cure the problem.....for a few weeks, then it came back, so now I just WD40 it every now and then...either that or buy some new huge speakers to drown out the sound!

my theory also works well if there's a woman in your car and she won't shut up...

rhubarb999 Mar 19, 2004 02:24 PM

my seats don't squeek .. but the drivers seat will slide back and forth about 1/4 inch when I brake hard. Its a little annoying .. my Corvette did the same thing .. and I got rid of it !

Any ideas?

Anthracite SC Mar 19, 2004 02:42 PM

hmmm

Might want to not use that seat for activities other than driving so that it doesn't squeak or move a 1/4 inch =)
j/k

i think i found out the location where the noise is coming from. on the passenger seat there is a lever to recline the chair. if you push around there it should make some noise, at least mine did. i'm not sure if that is the only location but i'll let you guys know what's up after i hose it down with wd40
