Chrome accessories ruined (i think)
#1
I just got my SC back from the body shop today (sum guy hit me from behind) and it was awful. The man fixed the bumper and painted it nicely but he also got white paint on my chrome exhaust tips and one of the rear chrome wheels. The tip is not completely white but it is noticible i think. As for the chrome wheel, the white paint was lihgtly sprayed on it(i think he forgot to cover it) and it now has a little chrome/metallic/graphite look. This wouldn't be so bad except this is the only wheel that got a little paint sprayed on it. The rest weren't touched. Is there any way i could take the paint of the tip and wheel without ruining the chrome or do i just have to get all new stuff?

What shop did you go to??
Did you go to Bradshaw's?? I always hear of problems with them.
The paint on the wheels will come off with very fine 0000 (4-ought) steel wool.
But I would complain first, before I took it off.
Also, Check your windows, if they got it on your wheels it probably has left a film on your windows also.
Use the steel wool on your windows also.
Next time you need a body shop let me know, I am in Nashville also. I can refer you to a good one!! Lexus of Nashville uses them.

overspray shame
That is really bad for any body shop. I would go in with the car and ask them to take care of it. If not, then write a letter to the BBB. Bodyshops hate bad PR!!!
Yes the 0000 steel wool will work. Be careful though! You could also try a polish like mothers on the light areas, or a rubbing compound - just be careful and keep the area moist as you work out the overspray.
I have gotten all sorts of paint scratches out of car finishes with compounds and polishes.
Did they at least match the color well from all angles and in sun & shade? I drive em nuts cause I get a portable colorimeter and ensure it is within industry tolorances of +/- 1.0 DE.

Try one of those claybars. They work wonders on overspray. Be sure to get a good like the one from www.zainobros.com

Don't do it yourself. Have the body shop clean it up. You paid your $$ to have them do it right!! It's their responsibilty to give you the car repaired not ******ed up!
Sorry if this sounds postal, but crappy work pisses me off.
Make them fix it!!!
