Default Removing front window glass

I just got a fix it tix for having tinted windows.

I don't really feel like removing my tints at this point. And since I may be able to get a hold of two factory spec. front windows from a local junk yard, can I just swap the windows myself?

How complicated is this procedure? If it's any more difficult than removing the tint and then retinting it later, then I guess I'll just have to take them off.

Thanks.

Jon

I dont know how much it is to tint your front windows, but changing your ront windows will be much harder. Plus you might sratch the tint when you take out the windows, so it might be worth taking the tint off and having the ticket signed off then retinting the windows.

not too complex, its a nut and bolt operation. be careful removing it or you may scratch your tint like grego2 indicated.

why does everyone keep saying take the tint off and retint the windows? do you think you'll never get pulled over again or something? like this cop will never bother you again? if you wanna run illegally, be prepared to fork out the cash.

My general approach to glass work is to have the pros do it. Most mistakes are catastrophic and expensive. I had a friend who did glass work, and although the things he did weren't complicated, he did use a lot of specialized tools and had a lot of tricks that would not be obvious to someone doing it for the first time. However, if you're prepared to break one or two windshields learning, I'm sure that anyone with reasonable mechanical skills could become competent. One inexpensive option may be to contact the local high school auto shop. If you provide the parts, they might do it for free, and I'm sure they'd let you watch.

Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate it.

I ended up simply having my tints removed, and retinted my front windows to 40% after I had my tix written off by a cop.

OLT: Check your PM.

I don't think so. I don't think there's even a single stop sign or traffic light in that state.

I am not in S.D. I just did it for the heck of it since I see no one from S.D. on CL.

Sorry for the confusion.

Ok you're from Cali, you should now that the cops will ticket you for anything out here. Ex. no front license plate, tinted front and drivers/pass. windows, load mufflers, etc. They look for this easy ticket and they have an excuse to run your license. Go with a lighter tint on your drivers/pass. window and forget about the front window.
