What parts (performance, exterior, etc.) can u interchange between any Toyota Supra and a 92 SC300 (w/ auto transmission)?

FastSC300 04-01-01 12:30 PM

not a whole lot....stock to stock

Brakes, shocks and struts, wheels(TT)

Depends on how much money you have, many parts will interchange with light modification.

Engines can swap, tranny can swap, rear diff can swap, need a modified drive shaft.

Steering wheel should swap(from TT)

Modified Supra TT exhaust should fit(?)

what does it take to get the differential to swap? i have a 92 5 speed i spin the wheels in 3rd when i shift hard!!!
id like to get a little more grip.. also what is the difference between locking and non locking, in my type of aplication?

abdul10000 04-02-01 05:12 AM

What kind of tires do you have in the rear ?

I think the diff from the supra uses the same mounting as the Lexus diff, so should just swap right in. Diffs between locking and non locking is that one wheel spins or offers traction while both wheels turn(lock) offer traction or spin together on the supra.

If you stay with the 5-speed, I dont think(?) you will need a new or modded driveshaft.

so i need to find a tt 6speed locking diff? or a 5spd non t locking?

lxxxs. The locking TORSEN (mfr.) diff. from the Supra TT has a larger rad. (i.e. more cooling fins) on it and the 3-hole pattern for the drive shaft connection is on a slightly larger diametre compared to my '92 SC400. Modifying the hole pattern on the diff. is not a big deal at a machine shop as you can plug the holes, relocate them, enlarge the countebore for the bushings (in the rubber isolator between the shaft & diff.), and take a lick off the backside so the locking nuts fit flush. Or you can modify the drive shaft end (not sure what the best way would be).

Unfortunately I don't know if there is a difference in the hole pattern between your ride and mine. I know that a non-locking diff. from an auto. Supra has the smaller dia. hole pattern that matches my car's, but you don't want it. You want a locking diff.
