Well after 35 years of constant use my factory installed in Japan a/c broke, (wonder if thats a world record)? just don't know how bad.
I was traveling and I heard a pop, started smelling refrigerant and lost cooling pretty quick. Any idea's on what could have happened to the a/c when something like that happens? Tried adding a new can of refrigerant but of course didn't work
Thanks
So this was interesting. Finally got a cool day to take the Bullet to an a/c shop in another town. It's been super hot for months, breaking all kinds of heat records. One good thing there is no humidity anywhere around here. I described and they said they'd have to put it in their machine, vacate what refrigerant was there and clean it out. It was emptied with me.
They said they couldn't find any large leaks or small, filled it with their their coolent and gave it back to me running cold as if no incident happened 🤷♂️ Were the Bullet Lives
Took a few pics of the Purple Bullet last week
Where it lives, in the High SouthWest mountains. Also where I photograph the MILKY WAY
Thought I'd share the story and and pic's with the Club
Thats odd you heard a pop, smelled refrigerant and lost cooling and they just said it had to be vacc'd out and refilled. It makes me wonder if it wasn't a fuse popping, possibly due to something overheating. I feel like if you popped a line or something you would see a cloud of refrigerant coming out of your car and it would make a mess.
Did they make any mention of changing the fuse or relay?
Hi Joe, They said they do that because thats how they look for problems. Not finding anything wrong. They were surprised themselves
Don't recall ever replacing, a fuse, probably have, just don't remember
