So i’m in the final stages of my 1jz gte vvti sc400 swap with an r154 and currently one of the last things i need is a throttle cable. i’ve heard supra tt throttle cables work if you bolt it onto the hole closest to the manifold and i’ve also heard 90s camrys throttle cables work. i’d much rather do the camry throttle cable because i could just go to a junkyard and get one but which model would it need to be off of? or are they all the same? i know they have camry xle, le and so one so which throttle cable will work for my swap?

 

Driftmotion sells a 2JZ-GTE throttle cable that should work but it's best to call them or email them and double check. I have found that the OEM Soarer JZZ30 and 2JZ-GTE Non-VVT-i throttle bodies have slightly different distances to where the traditional throttle cables hook up. Also inside the sheathing of those OEM 1JZ-GTE and 2JZ-GTE throttle cables the actual *travel* of the metal flex cables themselves is slightly different.

Check to make sure you won't be running one that is too short such that you can't have our throttle at true idle. Driftmotion says their cable will work for both 2JZ-GTE and 1JZ-GTE swaps into MKIV's, SC's and Soarers so it is probably a matter of just a bit of fine adjustment with their solution.

However the alternative as you found out is to use a 1992-1996 Camry 4cyl throttle cable. Honestly I'd pick one of these up cheap first and try it out before spending more money on a more expensive cable.
