Hey this is my time posting on here. Just in need of some guidance, I’ve been having some issues with my 93 sc400. I haven’t been getting spark after replacing both coils, distributor caps, cam sensors, crank sensor, and on igniter(waiting on other one). I’ve checked the connection everywhere it all seems good, I’ve opened my ecu to check it out didn’t see any concerns(should i get it professionally looked at?). The car ran fine but then started having starting issues where it start up fine then once it warms up it wont start so i have to let cool down. Now it won’t start at all. I don’t want to keep running around trying to find the solution it’s making me go crazy, so if you have any advice on this pls help, thanks in advance.



ps. One of the coils connector broke so i have to wire it up again but not 100% on the wires, if i connected them in the right way. Would it still start if only one is bad?

 

It will still start with one coil. does your engine light come on when in the ON position?

 

it does not come on

how do you check if it’s a CA ecu or fed ecu?
where are located for the ecu?

 

i am located in Florida but bought the car when i was living in San diego. do you have a 3rd cat or is it a resonator?

 

When i bought the car it didn’t have one and they told me i needed one for the smog so now i have 3. Do you have the ecu in SD?

 

Then you would be good to go the ECUs are the same the Cal ECUs are just more sensitive about EGR problems the only difference in the cars is the added cat. But if you aren't confident in it just send yours somewhere to be rebuilt

If your previous ignitor was functional, swap the other ignitor with the 1 you replaced. I wouldn't start the car with only 1 functional ignitor or it will cook your cat, or both of them, and it will for sure fail smog the following year. Them cats are around $800 each and a total of $1,600 combined with the work, I was just quoted this last month in the A.V., since I cooked both cats last year because of a failed ignitor and drove it 2 miles home. If you can get your ECU rebuilt, I would do that while you wait for the replacement part if the previous ignitor was bad. Just my .02 cents

 

starting the car with one coil pack plugged in will absolutely not cook or damage a catalytic conv. don't spread BS man come on. People literally accidentally DRIVE with one working and nothing happened to the CATs

 

Im back with an update and finally got it running again, it does have a slight bog but i should be able to locate the problem, thanks for any help yall are amazing

 

what did you do to get it back running?
