Rattling/chattering from timing system?
Hi everyone,
This is my first post on here, so please bear with me.
I have a 1998 SC300 and I just recently did the alternator, timing belt and water pump all in one go, and now the engine is making a rattling noise between 1k-2k RPM and on idle. The noise is not very noticeable on idle, it is most obvious between 1-2k RPM when I hit the gas, Also the engine seems to idle right under 800-900 RPM once warmed up. I have removed the serpentine belt and the noise still occurs so I have narrowed the issue down to the timing system. My guess is that its from the valvetrain, but I figured the community might have a better idea
