Default 2014 RX Price Paid

Has anyone purchased a 2014 yet? Are the dealerships dealing the 2014's or do I need to wait for sell out of the 2013 or December to Remember promotion? If you bought a 2014, what sort of deal did you get?

I just purchased a 2014 RX, with Luxury option package. I wasn't really in a position to bargain because my trade-in 2007 RX 350 (92K miles) was involved in an accident the week before. They gave me $12K for my trade-in, bringing the price down to $38K. I negotiated it down to $36,600. They planned to make their money back on the financing end, but when the prices was agreed to, I wrote them a check for the car. I figure I saved a couple of thousand more on the financing cost avoidance.

Default 2014 RX Price Sanity Check

Hey guys, my wife and I are expecting so I would like to buy her a new car. Normally I purchase CPO as I hate the idea of taking a big hit once I drive off the lot. Anyways, my wife wants a white one with saddle interior which is only available in the 2013 and 2014 models. I have found one that lists at $49k with the following:

Navigation
Premium Package with Blind Spot Monitor
Comfort Package
19-inch 7-spoke aluminum alloy wheels
Intuitive Parking Assist
Wood- and leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift ****
Towing Prep Package
Lexus 12-speaker Premium Sound System

The dealer is basically offering it to me for $43k. It seems that this is a good deal. Especially since there was a 2013 that was used (15k miles) that was listed at $43k that I believe was a CPO. Now I don't know what the vehicle ultimately sold for but as a point of reference there is a wholesale dealer here that has a black on saddle with all the options listed above for $39k. It is a 2013 with 30k miles.

My question is, is it worth it to buy the new one or should I wait to buy a CPO when one in the correct color combination comes available? Baby is due in July so I have some time but I would rather be prepared. I would consider a 2012 but I love the redesign and it is not that much more (I see the CPO'ed 2012s going for around $37k with around 30k miles).

Thanks,
Raky

$43k offer? That's pretty spot on for what I just paid. How is he giving it to you (is some with financing incentives)? I ask as that deal may only last as they have that incentive program running. I think you can normally get around $3k-$4k off without financing deals.

I think it sounds like a great deal. This is a considerably better deal than we got on our 2013, even taking into account the slightly higher list of our vehicle. If your budget can handle it with a child on the way, I would go for it. I don't have any problem with a CPO, although I admit I love that new car smell. Obviously that brief smell is an expensive trade-off for the immediate depreciation so ultimately it isn't the best choice economically. The big reason for me is that I like the new grill/lighting treatment that began in 2013.

The bottom line, since you have been offered such a good deal, it seems like the economic benefit of going CPO is pretty minimal.

Your wife will love the RX no matter which route you choose so good luck with your decision.

I agree...the best deal I could get on a 2013 was $5000 off (and that was a hybrid). It was an immediate deal and they would not budge from it. 2014 was about $2500 off. Was the one you mentioned a 2013 or 2014?

Thanks all! The numbers behind the deal:

MSRP $49,784

With current finance incentive thru Lexus Financial $43,692.

So yes, there is the finance incentive. I have a trade too that is not factored in that I own free and clear. Looking forward to being a more active member. My other car is a BMW and though I tend to prefer German makes, my wife is 4'11" so the RX is the perfect size for her.

one last question - can I ask what dealer you went to or at least an area (Dallas, Houston, Austin)? I'm in TX too. The $2500 off of a 2014 was when they first came out so no incentives at all. I still stand by your deal being a nice one - especially with it being a 2014.

Mors, I am in Houston. I am speaking to Park Place out of Grapevine as well as Sterling McCall here in Houston. I just got a message from Sterling McCall saying they can do a bit more than $5k off with the current incentives which brings cost on same vehicle to 1k more than the first offer. I am going to go in and see what they can do, I imagine worst case I should get a match.

2010morx, yes this is for a FWD.

Raky, would you please let me know the name of your saleman? If you want I can let him know about you, so you would get $100 after I make my purchase with him.

johnnyvo1, which location are you interested in?

It looks like i will be buying the car from Sterling McCall. Sales person there is very respectful and was treated very nicely. They were able to match my pricing from Park Place Grapevine. I have not finalized the deal yet as he is going on vacation tomorrow and thursday and I will be on vacation for a week starting friday. I actually didn't see the car I would be buying as they couldn't find it on their lot (we were driving around through a sea of Lexus'). I will buy the car when I return unless I find out my wife is having twins (go for our first sonogram this friday)... then I guess I may have to rethink the RX...

A few quesitons:

1. Anyone have more than one baby seat in this car?
2. Anyone get the dealer to throw in the first one or two services?
3. Do people buy the wheel and tire package? The RX has 19" inch wheels so I am concerned, especially with Houston roads. If so, what price can I expect to pay? I think I paid around $1500 for my 5 series for this.
4. Anyone buy the prepaid maintenance? If so, how much was that? BMW charged me $2k for this.
5. Anyone buy the windshield warranty and if so, what can I expect to pay? I paid $500 thru BMW for this as they replace with OEM glass.
6. I'm going to try and get them to throw in rubber floor and trunk mats... Will let you guys know if I am successful.

Thanks,
Raky
