Talking Installed Hella Supertone Horns 118db

I'm tired of Los Angeles drivers texting or on their cell phone or on their iPad while driving . I've read many good reviews on how loud the Hella horns are so I bought one. I got lucky and got one that was made in Germany (others are made in India).

HL85115 German Hellas High Tone 500 Hz Low 375 at 118 db

Parts list...

8 female terminals: 4 for the relay and 4 for the horns.
1 male terminal: to plug into the stock horn connection.
4 ring terminals: 2 to ground the horns, 1 ground the relay and 1 for the (+) battery terminal from the relay.

A roll of wire...14 gauge is more than enough.

I used the diagram here to guide me: (powering them off the battery, using the relay, ensures that the horns are receiving all the power they need for max volume)http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3652/...eba7165b_o.jpg

The horns are not as visible as shown in my pictures. They are hardly noticeable unless you really stare at them. However, I will paint them flat black to make it more stealth. As you can see I relocated the OEM horns just below. And YES! All 4 horns work

Tiggerr, love it! I use my horn every day in a feeble attempt to wake up the brain dead. We have the same problem around here

I always thought bigger cars come with louder horns but our horns are not too loud, either that or the soundproofing is that good. My honda accord had a louder, meaner horn.

I would love to have a set of those. As it is if you honk at someone with the OEM horns you get flipped off and run off the road. I couldn't imagine what would happen with those babies. Welcome to the wild west.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the kind response all. As Uncle Ben said "With great power comes great responsibility". I use these horns wisely and when "they" well deserve it.

The X Men: I live in L.A. They point a gun at me and I will point mine back at them. LOL

This horn is a life saver. My wife was on her way home and this careless 16 wheeler tried to changed lane to the left and my wife was passing (probably blind spot). Anyway, she honked the Hella out of it and got the driver's attention. Had it been the weakly OEM horn....

Well, if you guys are going to do this and have some questions, either PM me or email me at fjverz@gmail.com

I wish they come in black so I don't have to paint 'em flat black. I dunno, I'm on the fence at the moment if I should leave it as is or make it more stealthy. It's not really noticeable from a distance but it gets "blurry clear" up close.

You won't get shot, just a $350 summons from the police.

Something to think about

I put loud horns on my Mazda Miata years ago.

I put air (trumpet horns), not electric horns. Apart from being super loud the advantage of air horns is that you can hit your horn button quickly and just the electric (car OEM) horn will come on. Then when you hold the button for a second the air compressor kicks up and the horns come on loud. So you get the benefit of not being offensive when you dont want to be but really being noisy when you want to or are pissed off.

(Fiamm does a good air horn ~120 db is plenty)

I just lucked out when I ordered through Amazon. I guess you can message the seller before buying it to make sure.

Joeb427: I hear ya! I will do it this weekend.

Cough: I have air horns in my Tacoma. I just don't think it fits well in a Lexus though. Just me...
