Does anyone know whether the folding mirrors are able to be programmed to fold on their own when the car is powered off or more accurately when the "lock" button is pressed on the remote?
Currently when I park my car I manually press the button to allow the folding mirrors to fold in. When I get back in the car I press the button to unfold them. Now the problem is that when you are getting out of the car (say you're parked in the street), you need to press the button while the key is in at least the ignition position. Of course the mirrors and close and when you get out of the car, you can't use them to see if anything is coming (yes you could turn your head, but how many of you actually do until you climb out of the car
). Of course the weird thing is that if you press the button while the car is off and turn it on the mirrors will fold. So it receives the signal but doesn't have the power to perform the fold.
I was wanting it to be matched to the door locks so that when you lock the car it folds the mirrors, and conversely when unlocking the car, it unfolds the mirror.

Wow. I wonder if the Aussie market power folding mirrors could be made to work with USDM RX330. Wish I could help you but we dont have power mirrors on our model RX330 afaik. Would be a nice DIYer if it could be made to work for us.

The Australian market came with these standard for the Sports Luxury version that I have, so I figured everyone of them had it. Didn't know the US didn't have them.
I know these are found on the LS430 and LS460 but never knew they were available for the RX.
draco, can you make a short video showing us yours folding in and out, as well as a shot of the button you press to work them?

I will have to find out. I believe they are heated mirrors (heck my ES had them). I will check and get back to you. As far as part numbers and such go, would again have to see if I can find the part numbers for it. In my experience, as I once had to replace a motor on one of the cars I had with folding mirrors (sure it was my Honda) it looked like the only difference was a different type of motor in the mirror that allowed it to fold (and provide adjustments as required) and an extra relay. Not sure how this would work on the RX, but I can find out.
