Did a search for 'kick sensor' in the forum and didn't see this before....
New '24 RX500h, 700 miles on it. Kick sensor worked initially and now it isn't. Tried waving foot, putting foot in/out, etc. many times at different parts of bumper. Always doing this with fob in my pocket. Can't get it to work at all now (works with fob, just not 'kick'). Wondering if it could be a setting issue I inadvertently turned on/off, but can't find it.
Has anyone else experienced this and is this just a simple fix?
Mine also stopped working. Can't figure a fix either. The rear door engineers have dropped the ball big time as the close and lock button works once in a blue moon.

Did you step back a few feet after waving the foot? Otherwise, it will not open.

Yes, I've tried sticking my foot in and then pulling it out. I've tried waving it multiple times in multiple places. I've stepped back. I've stayed put. Every single combination and it has just stopped working - there is no audible signal coming indicating that the door will open either (like when you push the button on the fob). A little frustrating.
7.5k here. With all the complexity of these vehicles, it's almost surprising there are not more issues. I cut my teeth on '70s and '80s cars. Quality control and reliability was an absolute joke then. We're living in a golden age now.

You don't happen to have a hitch installed do you?
I wave my foot under it, then as soon as it beeps I walk away from the car. it needs to see that you are not behind the car and the door will not hit you before it starts opening. If you stand there it will not open.
I'm looking forward to the April issue of Consumer Reports which will have a lot of data from owners about reliability in a whole bunch of categories for the 2023 RX specifically. I do understand the concerns of people who paid a lot of money for a car and are having problems, but it's impossible to tell from a forum like this how widespread the problems are...count me among those with no issues after nearly one year...pure guess on my part (given that 2023 was a refresh year) that ratings may be down some, but not a lot. We'll see.
