I got a "Distance control off" message near the speedometer after radar cruise was engaged. Does anyone have any idea what causes this?

It happen to me a few months ago while on a long trip. It was working fine, then I made a stop. When I tried to engage it again it would not engage with distance control. The next day it worked fine.

 

You had adaptive cruise turned off and just regular cruise control operation most likely. The bottom left right side wheel button can toggle between the two.
