Default Long beep when engine starts.

I am in week three with my new RX, and earlier today when I started up the engine, there was a long high-pitched beep that would not stop for about 8 to 10 seconds while the car was starting up. There are no warning lights for messages showing up anywhere, so I’m not certain why this just started happening. I can’t seem to find anything in the manual as to why this might be occurring. Any thoughts?

Do you have power folding rear seats?

If after you started it, did you place it in gear? If so, that alarm will occur if you have feet on the brake and accelerator, at the same time. That may not be your problem but it is something I have experienced because I drive with two feet (one for gas and one for brake), due to a disability.

This was happening to me for a while, too, and I finally figured out that the cargo cover (not sure the technical term) was jammed up against the back of the power folding rear seats. Removed it and the beep disappeared. So make sure nothing is lodged behind them. I'm sure that there are other reasons that the beep might happen but that was what caused mine.

Thanks. I assume that had something to do with it, as I adjusted the rear seats to their full upright position and the beep stopped next time I started the car.
