Default Piece of metal hit my RX on the freeway

A truck hauling a trailer lost a piece of metal as I was traveling behind it. I tried to avoid it but was unsuccessful. I documented the plate of the vehicle, Washington State Patrol was awesome and found the driver so we could exchange information.

As far as the damage goes, these scratches are pretty deep. Is this repairable or am I looking at a total bumper replacement?

It’s repairable. Should be a quick fix.

Does it get marked on your carfax as damage reported since you called the police?

no, this was not a traffic crash, it was a civil matter. The police just helped me with exchanging information. No report was written.

I think insurance will declare it if that is being used to process the claim. Something to consider when you talk to their insurance. You should get a diminished value claim.

This looks too minor to get an ins comp involved. Just go to a body/detail shop and get it fixed.
