Is top of dash leather or vinyl?
Just bought a 2017 RX with leather seating and started to clean and treat top of dashboard and it appears to be leather but I’m not sure and want to make sure I clean and treat properly based on the material. Thanks

It's Lexus synthetic leather called "NuLuxe" In fact you'd be surprised how much of it is used throughout the cabin including sides of seating areas, dash, doors, center console etc..in fact unless you have the semi-aniline leather (luxury package) which is full 100% real genuine leather the rest of packages including premium or base option uses a combination of real leather and NuLuxe as only the main seating areas are leather and the back, sides etc. is all NuLuxe.

It is not leather for sure. Car needs to be in the ~150K price range to have leather there, I believe.

Only Rolls Royce or Bentley has leather on dashboard as far as I know.

The Nuluxe is more durable that the real stuff anyway and nobody can tell the difference.

and those places ( the dash) you don't really touch that much. so that's ok And
i see some older people cover the whole dash with a fabric / lambskin to make it less hot.

I am not absolutely certain about what material is used on the RX dash, but, about 6 years ago, Lexus began using recycled plant material on the dashboards of most Lexus models. On various Lexus model forums, there have been a fair number of posts from people who report scratching or discoloration of their dashes made with that recycled plant material.
On the two Generation 6 ESs that I've owned, the only cleaning/treatment that I've done on the dashboard has been periodically to wipe them gently with a damp microfiber cloth, and I've had no issues with scratching or discoloration.
Again, I'm not sure that the same material is used for the dashes on the RX, but I suspect that it is.

I've been really happy with Meguiar's Interior Detailer.

Used it on all surfaces in my 16 IS before getting my RX.

When washing my dash on my 2021 rx I noticed some white showing. The only solution I found is to use back to black and although it's a little semi gloss after a week or two rub the spot with your hand and rub out the gloss. Looks really good now. Good luck.
